We set out in writing our requirements ahead of the job starting which were agreed by both. On site, Bryn turned up a man short, and appears to be a one man band when two were promised (and needed) He did initially made some good progress and seems a competent carpenter. After a few days there was significant problems with his behaviour and attitude, demands for payment outside terms agreed and attempting to charge us more than agreed. We tried to resolve this but this was unsuccessful. He became aggressive and repeatedly made threats. We had to ask him to leave the site, he would not and this led to police involvement. Jobs that were due to be complete were left unfinished jobs, he made core mistakes which the building inspector pulled up and has had to be remedied by other trades. He claims he’s a LTD company but failed to present a legal valid invoice and he had to explicitly state invoice requirements. He tried to pressurise us into avoid paying his tax when we’ve legal responsibilities to deduct and pay this. He didn’t have a company tax code and we were eventually able to pay him as a sole trader He’s made repeated threats to come to my personal home where I reside with my children His vile behaviour has put our project behind, cost us additional labour, losing us income on a project that should be complete. He continues to threaten, and appears to think this behaviour acceptable when it is not! Avoid at all cost!

BEWARE!Jamie was hired to level the ground and to lay the patio/pathway.After delays Jamie started work 10/8. More than 50% was paid upfront. On day 1 Jamie was alone & stayed 1.5hrs.He took levels, told us about what a quick & easy job it was.Day2- 3men commenced the work. No issues were raised.They left early due to the heat saying "see you tomorrow". Day 3 - Jamie & his workers did not turn up. We tried to ring him but he would not answer his phone. 11.12 I received an email stating he had booked a drain engineer for the following week & would not be doing any more work until this person had used a camera to inspect our drains. We did not ask for this and do not want it.Jamie has told us that he will not continue work until we let this happen&then pay to rectify any problems they find,stating he would not continue until this had taken place or "you would have to pay the rest of the money with no patio at the end".Jamie refuses to answer the phone, all contact has been via email. He has repeatedly been asked to continue the work he was contracted to do or return the money he has been paid.He refuses to do either. He has left our garden unsafe for my children to use, with smashed up concrete path, he has left my drive unusable as it is piled high with the soil he was paid to remove. Jamie has even threatened to sue me if I leave any negative reviews of my experience. We have since discovered Jamie previously ran two drainage engineer companies, both of which have dissolved.

I contacted Ethan Nov18 we wanted our basement converted. He seemed like a trust worthy man that had experience and knowledge, we put our faith in him to do the job! below why this is a negative review; 1. We payed £4000 upfront for him to buy the materials but the materials where purchased personally by the tradesman who told us they did not know Ethan (Ethan told us he had a team of tradesmen within his company) 2. He promised us he would over see the whole job, but he only spent a total of 20 hours at our home in the space of 2 months using excuse after excuse as to why he could not come. (we both lost money from taking time off work to meet him at the house) 3. Ethan finally came to knock down a wall. Once it was down he unbelievably told me " I have knocked the wall down, hope its not a supporting wall, we will just see how the house settles" ! we then had to get a surveyor ourselves to come and check that it was not a supporting wall as Ethan would not answer his phone! luckily it was not. 4. Its a shame we cant put pictures on here of the poor quality of work he has done. In regards to the floor which he "levelled" and "damp proofed" ( floor was wet to touch) and he used insulation that was meant for a shed, the carpet fitters refused to lay over it and we lost our deposit. There is so much more i could say,the work is not done and we have not heard from Ethan regarding rectifying the work after messaging and calling him. He is a liar and should not be trusted!

Ladislav hamran is a complete fraud. He has no building skills at all. He caused significant damage to my property and took five hundred pounds from me for * materials* which did not materialise. He has no understanding of building regulations. He did not have the skills to carry out the work, was not respectful of the property. Do not under and circumstances employ Ladislav Hamran he is dishonest and unskilled.

Olly Peters and LDT Carpentry and Building started a barn conversion at the beginning of Dec 2019 and were completely out of their depth. Olly was 100% over his quote for materials and over 100% over his labour quote. By the end of July Olly had botched and left unfinished countless jobs and expected to hold us to ransom to find additional budget. The finish was poor with an open sewer for drainage, holes in the roof and a floor level over 100mm out. He also didn't seem to know how to install a kitchen. His timekeeping was poor, he refused to accept any responsibility or accountability and didn't answer any of our calls after packing up and leaving while still owing us some of the deposit we'd paid which he'd originally demanded. We found him unreliable and untrustworthy. It's therefore not a surprise to see him posting fictitious reviews on Checkatrade for jobs in June when he was on site at our barn conversion, albeit it in body only. Fake reviews, fake builder.

Not recommended at all. Nenad and his team caused lots of trouble in this project. What seemed professional at the beginning turned out to be a nightmare. He did not finish the project leaving the client with an unfinished home. Nenad also kept on constantly asking for more and more money since the very first day. The finishes are very poor quality, one of the poorest on the market. Besides he never reads the drawings which caused a lot of mistakes that the client had to pay for. Towards the end he abandoned the building site and did not refund the clients the money they were owed. In this project we all had to do a special effort because the building works started at the same time as our engagement as architects. We worked extremely hard to provide Sonex with the drawings on time and he still caused an endless delay always finding different excuses to not bring builders on site.

Complete waste of time. Hired this tradesman a few months ago, to work on a simple brick BBQ. We had a conversation in person about the job and i informed him i would be supplying the bricks as they are "reclaimed". On the day they were to start the job, he turned up and said "oh" where are the materials, which was concerning. I had to explain our conversation in detail to point out that i said i was supplying the brick as they were reclaimed, no mention of any other material. I had just completed a huge renovation project and this was one of the final contractors to be used. Unfortunately this person is very amateur, and he then made me pay £500 for materials to be delivered. I paid for the materials and the new start date he suggested wasnt suitable, he then said he longer wanted the job! Can you believe it, he made me pay for all the materials, even though that was not agreed in person. I have dealt with over 12 different teams working on this project, and this one is the worst. No care in the word, he even sent a text said he was "quaking in his pants" about a bad review. I just replied saying, that sums everything up - totally unprofessional. Move on.

Fabiol and his brother are not professional builders. I reversed everything they did. At the end, when I said I was not happy with the job suggested paying £100 less than agreed, they started yelling, insulting, and threatened to break my house with a hammer. Something as simple as sanding a wooden kitchen worktop was not right. They left it rough which needed resanding. The upstand they put was not the right size, colour, or shape, and rather than stick it on, they used nails which were big, visible, and not aligned along its length. They joined more than one piece together and it was very poor and visible. They put a new window frame but gaps where the window frame parts join at the corners were not filled. They didnt remove the blinds or ask me to remove them, so the paint on the window frame got smudged and the blinds are covered with paint. They were supposed to restore original floorboards which is heavily marked. They used a hand sander for this. Rather than say this is a job that they cannot do, they went ahead with it. The sanding they did with a hand sander did not remove any of the marks, but they still started varnishing it. I rented a floor sander the next day and did it myself and the floor doesn't have any marks on it now. They used door and window silicone and a multipurpose white filler to fill the gaps between the floorboards instead of a wood filler. They used interior varnish instead of floor varnish. They used screws instead of nails which cracked them.
