Commence repairs within 5 working days if the investigation determines that work is required. Ensure the house is substantially free from damp and mould as far as reasonably practicable. The law is a response to the tragic death of Awaab Ishak, who died from a respiratory condition caused by mould exposure. It is part of Scotland's broader efforts to improve the safety and quality of social housing. The law will be implemented through a phased approach, with the first set of regulations coming into force on 6 October 2026.
