I hired DS Developments to completely landscape my small front garden. This involved clearing and levelling the area; moving and re-securing a bike shed; laying a patio and lawn; and a number of finishing touches. The area went from somewhat of an embarrassing eye-sore to an area of pride. One that several neighbours have already made compliments about. David provided a professional service from start to finish. His quote was more than I expected, but his knowledge and vision gave me the confidence to select his services. We had an urgent project to renovate within a tight timeframe to be ready for mum’s discharge from hospital. Work done included widening doorways, breaking down load bearing wall, and fitting of new bathroom. Carl understood the importance of the work and of our requirements. From day one he made it very easy for us to entrust him with the work and made a situation that would have been very stressful less so. Communication was always great with Carl, he would always keep us well informed on the progress and what they were doing on a regular basis. This meant we could leave him to do it while we could focus on other things. Carl would help source out materials and went out of his way to go and pick up these materials so that there wasn’t delay in getting the materials delivered in time for completion. He really did go above and beyond. The deadline was brought forward to be completed sooner than anticipated, Carl was very understanding and flexible and made sure he and team put in the required hours even working at weekends to ensure the work was completed in the required timescale. We are very happy with the work and Carl is always available should there be any issues that arise after completion. Our family are grateful for all the hard work Carl and his team has put in to make this all possible. Highly recommend his services should you require someone you can trust, who is personable and follow through on his word.

Our house refurbishment was managed by Andy. He was extremely polite, patient and attentive. He was a pleasure to work with and took away a lot of the stress. His communication throughout the project was top notch. Andy and his team came up with a wealth of experience and was full of ideas to solve problems in what was not a straightforward job. The quality and attention to detail of his carpenters, plumbers and plasterers was excellent. We were very happy with the work carried out. Unfortunately we had an extremely bad experience with Mick and his team. Mick looks very attentive when coming around to quote for a job but his lack of knowledge about a building site and the lack of knowledge of his team have had huge unforeseen consequences on our project. The quality of his work is very poor as highlighted by building control and a RICS surveyor. We were advised by both that foundations were not deep enough and that he had built on top of a drain without any bridge over it so building control advised us to get everything demolished and start again. We are now going to court as we are not able to find a resolution with him.

Positively, certain aspects of the finishing, particularly tiling, were carried out to a good standard. However, the overall experience was mixed due to significant issues. There were notable challenges during the project involving basic logistics and site management, leading to considerable inconvenience that seemed avoidable. Furthermore, the quality of workmanship was inconsistent; while some parts were good, other areas involving fittings and fixtures showed a lack of attention to detail in the finish, requiring later adjustments. Communication during the process could also be difficult, particularly regarding problem-solving and planning for materials. While we appreciated the parts done well, the project was let down by these inconsistencies and process issues, leading to some ongoing snagging and disappointment.
