I'm almost clueless about what kind of extractor fan would be best for my kitchen; it's fairly small in a Victorian terraced house. It's inadequately ventilated and prone to condensation, especially when boiling food, even with a window open! I'm willing to spend up to £100 on the extractor itself. I don't know whether an extractor fan or a cooker hood would be most effective, not even sure who I'd hire to provide and fit one but I'm guessing an electrician. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks!
150 mm extract fan, should be fine. Most electricians like myself do this type of work.

Hi, do you have space to fit a cooker hood above your hob or cooker? If so this would be a better option if you could get it to vent outside. If not then you could fit a wall fan or window fan elsewhere in the room. You would need to work out the cubic area of the room and get a fan which can cope with the job...you would need an electrician to fit the fan and connect it.

For a kitchen your fan needs an extract rate of 30 litres per second in a hood unit or 60 litres per second as a wall fan. Whatever fan you go for it should extract to external air. If you're going for the wall fan as opposed to a hood Iwould recommend a humidity sensor so it automatically activates when necessary.
