Do I need new flue when replacing combi boiler with the same make?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.09 PM
I'm replacing the old and non working combi boiler with a new combi boiler from the same brand. Do I need to replace the flue too or can I safely use the existing one? Is there any other cost associated other than the new boiler and labour for gas safe plumber? Thank you.

Yes, you do need to replace the flue when replacing any boiler even if the same brand. This is to keep it in line with manufacturers specifications and Building regulations.
The washers on the combustion side of the flue (inner section) perish over time and can leak and cause damage to the rest of the flue. It can also cause potentially dangerous situations with carbon monoxide leaking into the property if these seals are broken.

Yes you will need a new flue as per bs5440.
In regards to other costs there are a number if contributing factors such as pipe, fittings, clips, screws, plugs, cable, solder, flux, registration etc
This will be best discussed with your gas safe engineer
