What's the best way to strip paintwork of an old radiator and then repaint.

buy a tin of nitromose, then paint onto radiator, leave for an hour untill the paint has gone soft, then using a thin scraper, scrape off paint. use gloves at all time and goggles nitromose is an irritant and avoid getting into eyes at all times please read instructions before using.

I did this recently with a 60s radiator using Nitromors. Apply as instructed on the tin and scrape off the paint. Wash down the radiator after the last application but before it dries. Make sure the radiator is thoroughly dry and rust free before repainting.

If most the paint is loose then scrape as much of as posible, get some course grit sandpaper and give the rad a good sand, spend time on areas of sound paint that have an edge where paint next to it have been removed. Undercoat, a few coats may be needed,then gloss

Hello to strip old paint back to metal you will need polystripper or simular it will probably take 2 or 3 goes dependent on how thick the existing paint is...wear protective goggles and gloves after stripping down wash of all residues and apply a metal primer prior to any finishing paint..use a recommended radiator paint which is heat resistant and resists yellowing hope this helps Lionel Bexon

look in the yellow pages or on google for a shot blasting/powder coating companyin your area for the best finish remove ur radiator if possible,take it to the nearest compamny for a price to shot blast & powder coat to the colour of your choice it will come back better than new. If that is to expensive scrape as much paint off as possible ,good rub down with sandpaper, dust off & a couple of coats of undecoat then finish with final coat of your choice
