Double glazed window won't open. Can it be fixed?

Anonymous user 28 February 2011 - 4.34 PM

We have a double glazed window but the window won't open. The handle moves but it does not unlock the window. Locked or unlocked with the key makes no difference. I think the metal plate inside that moves up and down has broken off as I had to fix another window which broke while open. This one has broke while closed so can it be fixed or would we have to replace the whole window? Thanks for anyones help.

Get a good window fitter round, he should be able to open it.

The mechanism can be changed in any window, most windows you can adjust to fit other spagg or shoot bolts. many thanks, Kl window doctor.

the mechanism sounds as if it is seized up or the handle might be broken it is a quick fix if the mechanism can be obtained however if the mechanism cant be obtained a new window would be required
