Kitchen Fitting

Will all makes of integrated appliances fit all makes of kitchen units?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.00 PM

We need to have our kitchen completely redesigned and refitted and we were hoping to use an integrated dishwasher and integrated washing machine to improve the look. What I'd like to know is will all makes of integrated appliances fit all makes of kitchen units? Or will I just be able to use the store's brand appliances with their kitchens (ie homebase integrated appliances with homebase kitchens) Also if mixing and matching is possible, will kitchen be able to supply and fit a kitchen to utilise the integrated appliances if we already have them? Thanks for any replies!

Hi, generally integrated appliances are interchangeable between all brands of units. The important thing to check is that the width of the unit is correct for the appliance. eg. if it specifies a 600mm wide unit for the appliance, then ensure that is what you are using. sometimes a few modifications may be needed depending on the unit design (removal of a top support bar), but this does not present any issues. Some oven require a specific oven housing, but again they do not need to be a specific brand to match the oven. It is however generally a good idea to get all you units from the same supplier as often there are colour differences, and slight (an odd millimetre) size differences between different manufacturers. Hope this is of help, please let me know if i can be of any further assistance.

Only an integrated oven has a housing. Dishwashers, washing machines, fridges, freezers etc don't have units, either end panels / plinths or utilise the sides of the cabinets either side of them.

The above two answers are not strictly correct! Built under double ovens do not have housings!! They are supplied with angle bracket slides that are fitted to the sides of adjacent base units that are fitted giving a 60cm horizontal opening, also two angle verticals the fit to the sides of the base units which allow the final fixing in place of the appliance. As previous post said, only ovens have a housing and dimensions to work to. All others have the width made up by panels but the width must be set out accurately to ensure doors fit correctly.
