Windows & Door Fitting

Hi. I have recently moved into a flat that has upvc windows. I imagine they are at least five years old, if not older. there is a large window in my front room that has two vertical windows and one horizontal window above them. Along the top of the horizontal window is a gap when the window is closed. The frame above this window appears to be warped, as the gap starts quarter of the way a long, gets to around 5-10mm in the middle at its widest and then tapers off again. I have used a flat spirit level to check the window and the frame, and it seems like the frame is warped. All of the rubber seals are still there. What can i do to fill this gap. I cant afford to replace the whole windows. Can i buy bigger rubber seals maybe? Or is there something im missing? Any help appreciated!
Hi If the windows been fitted wrong then you may never get it right, check and see if there is a fixing mid way. It may be over tightened causing the frame to warp. If it tapers up to the fixing then slacken or remove the fixing, cut any sealant around the area and see if you can pull the frame straight and plum. If it works you'll need to re fix it using a few packers to keep it from warping when the fixing is put back in. If you still have no joy try and get a window fitter to have a look, you may need to save up and buy a new window, or find out who fit it, it should still be guaranteed.

Invite an expert to give you a free quotation/advice. It doesn't usually cost anything to get an expert to come out and look at the window.

Hi there, yes it might be over tightened,or the hinges could be not closing properly,I strongly advise you to call a service engineer out, take a photo of the WARPED frame,I have on a very rare case, repacked the sash to allow for the WARPED window, especially when I had to visit a listed property with VERY wonky windows
