It was great to work with Baz / Smiley on my project. Smiley team delivered project with great experience and customer focused to the end. it was a large project with two storey side and rear extension delivered as promised to plan and budget..

Smiley Building Services completed an exquisite single storey kitchen extension for me in June 2019. They also converted my old galley kitchen into a shower room/toilet and a utility room.

I chose this company as they were the only builders who answered my queries fully and brought good ideas for my project which I had not considered. Their quote was also competitive with others I had and, very importantly from my discussions with the owner, I quickly got a sense that he is genuine and passionate about the work he does.

I am happy to say that Smiley Building Services was an excellent choice. They proved to be an experienced group of professional trades people who fed back to me daily, and weekly. All the stages of the build went well. Any issue was readily resolved and the workers are very good at what they do.

All the team are very skilled in their particular area of expertise. They made my project into the dream kitchen I had always wanted. My shower room is just beautiful and the finish is exceptional.

Very constructive input throughout the whole process. We were given a clear idea of timescales for every step of the build, what to expect and how they would minimise disruption to our household which was all done effectively as promised. For the beginning he made clear that the process would allow us to still have a family home running (almost) as normal for most of the build, which was really helpful with our young children! Baz would always answer any questions and welcomes feedback. He would be flexible and find ways to work around problems to ensure the design was achieved and did so beyond our expectations. The build was completed to schedule and to a high standard. He would work with you to make sure everything was done properly and around schedules you have with other services if you are using separate glazing or kitchen suppliers as we did. We’re very happy with choosing Smiley building services and would definitely use again. All his staff are friendly, polite and considerate. Friends and family who have seen the work on our house have already asked for Smileys details for their own build work due to the great finish.

I found Baz through mybuilder, trying to find someone local to me with excellent references. I made a point of speaking with and visiting his previous clients. They were all happy with his work and I was impressed with what I saw. Having had Smiley Building Services just build our new extension, my wife and I would also thoroughly recommend them to others.

From our first meeting with Baz to the final snagging on our building works Baz has always been friendly, courteous and professional. He has a team covering all the key trades that means he has delivered the scheme remarkably swiftly, hitting all the key milestones. The quality of the work has often been excellent and he kept to our budget.

Life isn’t perfect and the build wasn't without its issues but the key thing was that we could always get hold of Baz and we were always able to resolve any problems and work with him to get the right solution for us. He acknowledged when something needed to be re-done and would make sure it got redone properly. Construction work always has its stressful moments but Baz’s knowledge and cheerful can-do attitude together with his clear depth of experience helped us all get through these moments.

Given the disruption to our house, which we lived in throughout the works, Baz and his team were friendly, polite, and did everything they could to help my wife and kids live as normal a life as is possible given all the work going on.

We are delighted with our new expanded home.

Very hard workers and high quality work we are extremely happy with the finish. Smileys workers are all very highly skilled. Was able to get hold of Baz at any time day, night or weekend. Project was exactly the price originally quoted. Baz was happy to quote and do additional items at a reasonable cost. From the moment we met Baz, we were impressed by his amiable nature & strong credentials. He struck us as a thinking man's builder.

We had a few guys out to quote for the project which, being a wrap-around extension to a Victorian terraced house requiring (among other things) a 10m RSJ, was slightly complex but Baz was the only one who did not make it seem like we were trying to rebuild the Taj Mahal! Baz is a solutions man; rather than the sharp intake of breath, & humming & hawing of the other builders, few things were a problem for him.

Baz came back promptly with a well detailed quote which was very reasonable. Before appointing him, he insisted that we see some of his work, & set up 6 appointments for us at former clients. Two of these clients were neighbouring properties, & a third neighbour was having a loft conversion done by Baz at the time - this spoke volumes to us about how highly he is regarded by his clients.

Baz has several teams who work for him, & a foreman manages the project on-site. Our foreman was Andrea, a genuinely nice guy who could not do enough to help (including fixing a few things around the house that were nothing to do with the project) & for whom nothing was a problem.

At the end of the project I can honestly say that our first impression of Baz still holds true. A good guy who is all about delivering a quality project with minimal fuss. We've already recommended him to several friends, we only wish we'd found him sooner!

I needed an idea of the cost of a potential extension on a house I was looking to buy. I didn't buy the house in the end but Baz was very helpful. I definitely get in touch with him if I needed building works in the future

I would recommend Baz and his team 100% and hope to use them again. They were professional, reliable, hard working, worked fast, trustworthy, very approachable and friendly - a pleasure to have around.

There was superb communications (every step, decision, change was communicated and explained) throughout and Baz is very approachable and very easy to talk to. You can always get hold of Baz direct; he would answer straight away; spent time explaining the process, advised us, got quotes for us and even came shopping with us a few times! Baz had all the time in the world for us and our project. No request was too trivial or small for him.

Baz and his team have gone above and beyond what we had expected of builders. Nothing was a problem - changes or extra things on top Baz happily did it. We had a leak that had nothing to do with the extension, Baz sorted it out at no extra cost. The price was fixed and transparent and we were pleasantly surprised that he didn't charge us for the extra materials (eg more coving, more skirting etc) we added after.

Our extension was completed within budget and on time and Baz was very keen to sort out any snags (very minor) after and did so straight away with no fuss.

We're extremely delighted with our extension and the way the project was managed. It was stress free and done to a standard high.

Baz and his builders (Mike and a couple of others I didn't catch the names of) were really great, every single one of them. Always very polite and they finished the job to a top standard. I changed my mind about the colour of the facia on the extension and this was changed without any complaint - I also had to live in the property during the works and they always knocked before entering in the morning, which was much appreciated. They finished the job to a very high standard, and answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly. Prices were fair and you get a really high quality finish as well. Job completed two weeks ahead of schedule, allowing me to progress with the remaining works in the kitchen earlier than expected. I had built in a buffer for delays, but to my surprise this didn't need to be utilised with Baz and team - in fact they had to wait for the french doors that I supplied, and this was incorporated and worked around without complaint. While on site they also cleaned up after themselves every day and even swept my hallway for any soil and dust! Top notch team, who have my full recommendation. I wouldn't hesitate to use again and will forward the company name to any friends or colleagues who need work done. Thanks for all the hard work!

Baz delivered a quote very quickly, assisted us in getting references, and showed us a similar job he had worked on.

Baz gave us a six month lead time, but in the end was able to start early because a previous job was delayed due to planning.

Baz was helpful in agreeing the final terms of the contract, which was based on a fixed price and the team started on the day agreed.

Mike, the foreman, was courteous and considerate and the team worked fast. They liaised with building control throughout as necessary. Once the rear wall came down we moved out, but they still kept dust to a minimum and sealed off the upstairs which was very effective.

We had a very limited time when we had somewhere else to live to finishing on time was very important. Baz delivered the project absolutely on time and the snagging issues were only minor.

The project came in bang on budget, in spite of a more expensive door configuration than we originally planned, and Baz was very transparent on pricing for materials.

Baz was a very good communicator throughout the project, keeping us updated in timings, and explaining each stage of the job. It was always easy to get hold of him when we needed to speak.

I would not hesitate to recommend Baz. On time, on budget, a good communicator, and a very good build. What else could you ask for? We plan to use him again for our loft.

I interviewed many builders for this job, both from Mybuilder and other sources. Baz was the first one who actually listened to what I said, looked at the working drawings I provided and instantly asked intelligent and relevant questions about why certain things were on the plans, and about how I actually wanted things to be.

Fundamentally, he was the first builder I talked to who I absolutely and instantly trusted. He gave me a very detailed and fair quote for the job, and was happy to take the time to sit with me and work through it line by line answering any questions I had.

The timescale he gave me was quick, and he explained in detail any things that might cause things to run on beyond what he had suggested - in fact, none of those issues arose, and the work was completed exactly to schedule, despite me adding in a few other bits of work that I also wanted to do. Baz and his team were a joy to have around. They were clean, tidy and respectful at every turn, and took time to answer my questions and seek my feedback on anything they were unsure about.

I've employed many builders and tradesmen before. I've NEVER worked with someone as good as Baz before. Absolutely 100% trustworthy, 100% conscientious and 100% perfect. It was a pleasure to have him working on our flat, and I'll miss having him around.
