I'm currently renovating my newly purchased house and whilst doing so, I've come across a mix of excellent tradesmen and not-so-excellent tradesmen. James is definitely in the former.

I invited James to come and quote which he did on a Saturday morning when it was convenient for me. His price was reasonable and he understood exactly what I was trying to do. He mentioned some of the tools he would be using to do the job and it was clear that he'd done similar jobs in the past. This is what sold him to me.

Over the next week, James liaised with me and we arranged a day for him to come. On the day, he arrived and cracked on whilst I was at work. He sent me a few photos on whatsapp as the job went on.

When I finished work, James had already left. The house was left exactly as I'd left it in the morning. There was no rubbish left around and the waste (which I'd agreed to dispose of) was bagged and stacked up neatly.

The job itself was done really well, just how I wanted it.

James also replaced a couple of broken bricks in my wall caused by a different bad tradesman for no cost at all which was really appreciated.

James is now saved in my phone book for the next time I need a builder. This is a testament to how much I recommend him.

  • replace window with smaller one

Excellent job of removing window, replacing with smaller one and making good the brick work, great communication and work done as per schedule. Recommended!

  • Shorten garden wall to widen driveway.

I hired James to widen my driveway and reset quite a lot of paving flags. But I really wanted the whole drive done and the garden curved round and concreted, but I thought it would be far too expensive for me. However when James arrived and I explained my idea to him, he gave me a quote for my initial enquiry plus a quote for all the drive and garden included. The quote was much more affordable than I was expecting and so I decided to go with that one.

I am really glad that I did! It has transformed the look of the house. James and his team were excellent. James offered advice for things I hadn't thought of, he is very approachable and polite, as were his team and they cleaned up each day when they had finished. I really can't explain how pleased I am. I would, without hesitation, recommend James McCann if you need any work doing. 5 stars rating for James!
    Thank you.
