About JCS Carpentry & Maintenance Services

Laminate or real wood floors - I've installed numerous floors for friends and clients over the years. I pay close attention to matching wood grains to ensure continuity and consistency across the surface. I have all the tools necessary to complete the job quickly and leave your property tidy after I've finished. Advice happily given as to what floor would be most suitable for your needs and I can source the materials at competitive prices for you.

Tiled floors - Whatever the surface is made of there is a way to tile the floor without the risk of tiles cracking. I've laid tiles on all surfaces and no clients have ever called me back to replace broken tiles because it is done right the first time, every time. I can source all the materials necessary or if you have the tiles already then I can just bring the adhesive and grout, whatever works for you.

Picture hanging & shelf fitting - Whether you just want a few pictures hung around your property or shelves installed. I've done them all, from a single shelf for a few DVD's to a 4 metre high book case in oak.

Wardrobes & storage solutions - Whether you need fitted wardrobes, racking in an airing cupboard or any other storage solution I will help you decide what will work best for your needs. Cupboards can be very handy to hide away the bits and pieces that would otherwise be left lying around, these days we can never have enough storage. I enjoy coming up with imaginative ways too create that extra space that we all need.

Garden landscaping - Garden design and landscaping work undertaken. From fence erection and building a shed or garden office to landscaping and design with advice on planting and how to care for the garden once it is complete. I also do garden maintenance work to keep it up to scratch once the building has finished so you can keep enjoying it without having to worry about maintaining it yourself.

Maintenance and repairs - Property maintenance and repair work undertaken. I will always make sure the problem is repaired not just patched up until it breaks again. I am always happy to show and explain the isue at hand and discuss ways to prevent it occurring again.

Qualifications

I am quite simply qualified by experience. I followed a carpenter for six months when I started and what I did not learn during that time I have taught myself.

My love of gardening comes from my parents and the time spent in the two acre garden that they made whilst I was growing up. I was helping my father plant potatoes on Good Friday when I was 4, at least I was until I put the fork through my foot but that’s another story altogether.... I specialise in all aspects of carpentry in the home and garden. I started by doing jobs for friends on weekends such as building fitted wardrobes and putting up shelves. I soon found that I had enough work being put my way to warrant giving up my job in Marketing and concentrating on the trade that I love doing.

I am also a keen gardener in my spare time, especially plants of the edible variety, and enjoy getting out in the garden and stuck in! I've designed gardens, completed the hard and soft landscaping, built sheds, summer houses and garden offices from kits or from scratch and where necessary insulated them fully so they can be used year round.

I firmly believe in doing a job to the best of my ability and ensuring that it is properly done in the first place, be that dove-tailing draws or mortise joints for making the strongest possible bond between two pieces of wood.
