Was happy to travel to assess site and gave lots of useful information on initial meeting. Nick was prompt and organised in communication by email with quotes and initial assessments of job. Seemed to understand a very complex brief so I have hired him!

Nick Vaughan and his team are an excellent architectural company. Work undertaken was to convert old shop into two individual apartments and build a new two level modern apartment where excisting garage stands. They helped us through the whole process with the initial thoughts at the beginning to the last stages of trying to get the whole thing through to planning. But through no fault of thair own York Council would not allow this to go ahead.

Nick has has been excellent at every stage of the design process. This is the first time we have used an architect and Nick has made sure the experience has been a good one. Nick listened to what we wanted and has added real value to our ideas and carefully dissuaded us from some of the wilder ideas we put forward. In the long run I feel Nick has saved us money - we will not be making avoidable mistakes. Nick has viewed our house holistically and has ensured the extension is fully integrated with the original build. There is nothing piece-meal about it. Internally the flow of the design is better than I could have imagined and has that much desired "wow" factor - more than just functional and practical a space to enjoy living in. Nick has delivered on every promise and commitment he has made to us. The quality of the deliverables has been high and has been reviewed and commented on very favourably by other people. At no point has Nick rushed the design process and at times he has rightly been cautious making us think carefully before making a final design decision there by avoiding rework when we realise we've made a mistake. I now appreciate getting the design right means saving money in the long term and in that respect I think Nick is excellent value for money. I would be happy to use Nick again and to recommend him to others.

Nick contacted me promptly following posting the job and has now completed the first stage of the plans for my extension. He has listened to my requirements, provided suggestions and had the patience to amend them where needed.

We are investing our life saving in a double storey wrap around extension so really wanted someone who could think outside the box. Browsing around was scary,you come across some odd people, and I guess it can be difficult to judge who is the best. Out of the four Architect we interviewed, Nick stood out to me in terms of being professional,and that consistency went all the way through. Even though Nicks fees may not be the lowest but they certainly are within budget and well justified. His response to emails are really quick. We cut down our initial vision of the size of the extension by more then 30% to maintain a good relationship with adjoining neighbours, then we had to maintain the 45 degrees rule, and further cut down following planning submission. We were blown away by how Nick could quickly rearrange the drawings to accommodate the size.I can quite confidently say our original vision of the extension is almost spot on despite so many cut down on space!!Now that is a work of art. Following feedback from local architect, who was completely shocked by Nicks proposal drawings:- "I like the plans because, as this site is very tight and restricted as far as options go to extend. This proposal maximises the potential but maintains great scale, proportion and form. I’ve been designing spaces for over 40 years, and this is as good as it gets! don’t always like to say that about other peoples work!!"

I had an immediate response from Nick who came out to see the job within a few days. He quickly picked up on what we were trying to do and has made good progress with the planners and our planning application in a relatively short time. He always answers promptly to emails and messages and seems very easy to work with. He has come up with some good designs and has also been open to our suggestions. We plan to use Nick through to the end of our project which will take some months to complete.

My old colleague Nick Vaughan is a respected construction industry professional. As well as working together at my old company on joint projects for many years until 2010, I have also worked with Nick' recently for my new company on a special project for Synergy Health. We also recently worked together on two education projects at Pontefract college. All projects went well in the face of urgent deadlines, having resulting satisfied clients. Nick is very client orientated and listens wall to what they need. He has always had a good eye for detail and commercial solutions.
