We hired Mike and Lee to do our garage conversion and install a downstairs toilet. We are so pleased with the completed conversion in fact it was better than we could have ever imagined. Prior to the build we kept on changing our mind so both Mike and Tracey in the office had to be patient with us. Mike project managed the whole conversion and has a good working relationship with building control, we didn’t even have to see or chat with building control. Just got the email completion certificate through. Mike showed his knowledge as originally the structure engineer had said that we need steels as we were removing a load bearing wall but after Mike investigated the wall further it ended up it wasn’t a load bearing wall and we agreed to keep the price the same but he replaced a ceiling and installed spotlights instead for the ceiling in between the converted garage and kitchen that gave us a better end product than we would have had. Mike and Lee are able to do all the work themselves apart from the electrics, a lot of builders have to sub-contract a lot of the work out. The biggest worry I had was the raising of the roof due to the neighbours roof overhanging onto our side. This wasn’t a problem it was quoted 3 courses of bricks, I thought we would only get 2 courses but he managed to get 4. Finish looks quality only problem know is we will have to redo the kitchen to match the garage conversion now lol!! Would I hire Mike again..... Absolutely!!

Mike did a great job for us. Not only are we pleased with the work but what we appreciated was his care and diligence. It was clear he wanted to do a good job. Mike was also easy to contact and we'd certainly use 1st Choice again.

Mike and his team were polite, professional, arrived on time and completed the work as discussed and again to schedule. No issues, dramas or need to push - the work just got done exactly as designed. 1st Choice Building will definitely get an invite to quote for any future jobs we need.

Very professional company who take care in their work and find the time to liaise with you over any concerns. I will be using 1st Choice again soon for my extension.

Excellent work. Mike was very efficient tidy and organised. I am delighted with the window and shall be using him again soon to insert another window and other building work. The building regulations inspector approved his work without any qualms. His pricing is fair and his materials and work of good quality.

We recently used 1st Choice Building to replace a complete shower unit which was old and leaking. The old tiles were replaced with shower board and a new tray and shower fitted. Once they had finished it looked great and was completed to a very high standard. They were very professional, knowledgeable and fairly priced. We would hire them again for any future work without hesitation.

Met Mike this morning who has kindly agreed to fit a new door in the St John Hall in Monmouth for free. Many thanks Mike, this means all donations can go towards keeping our ambulance on the road.

Mike was highly professional and completely reliable. He fitted the timing of the work around our needs, including a very early start. He came to inspect the work done by his team and when he wasn’t happy with the standard, personally oversaw the additional work. Will definitely invite Mike back to quote for more work.

Clean tidy workmen who I would recommend and use again. We were kept informed at all stages of the work. Honest about the problems encountered and how to resolve them. Would use again in the future and would recommend to others.

We are extremely happy with the workmanship and all other aspects of the 1st Choice Builders Team. They were very reliable, considerate and have done a superb job, completed in time and to budget. We did immediately ask them to do an extra job inside the house and are very pleased with that too. We would definitely consider using them in the future.
