Question 1

How do I know if I need a London plasterer?

Accepted Answer

If your walls or ceilings are cracked, uneven, or damaged, a London plasterer should handle the repairs before any decorating begins. Once surfaces are smooth and dry, a local painter and decorator can then take over with paint or wallpaper.

Question 2

Can London plasterers complete plastering work in winter or damp weather?

Accepted Answer

Yes, though extra drying time may be needed. Plasterers in London will take steps to manage ventilation and temperature to ensure a smooth, even finish.

Question 3

Will a London plasterer do skimming?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many plasterers in London offer wall and ceiling skimming as part of their standard plastering services. Skimming, or re‑skimming, is commonly used to smooth rough, damaged, or old plaster before decorating, and it’s widely available from plastering companies in London across all boroughs.

Question 4

How much can a plasterer do per day?

Accepted Answer

A plasterer can often cover around **10 - 20 m²** per day for full plastering (base coat plus finish), or roughly **20 - 40 m²** per day when just skimming walls that are already prepared. In practice, that often means one medium‑sized room per day, depending on wall condition, room layout, and how much preparation work needs to be done.

Question 5

How long will I need to wait for the plaster to dry before painting?

Accepted Answer

Most plaster will feel dry on the surface within a day or two, but it can take up to a week or more for walls and ceilings to fully dry through, especially in cooler, damp weather. A London plasterer will usually let you know how long to wait, and you can ask them for advice using MyBuilder.
