Driveways (Paved & Loose)- 8 Jul 2026
I hired Doda to sort out my driveway drainage, and he did an outstanding job. The previous installation was done poorly and wasn't functioning properly, but Doda came in, ripped out the old system, and installed a brand-new, heavy-duty Aco drainage system. He was reliable, hard-working, and clearly knows his stuff when it comes to groundworks. The quality of the fit and finish is excellent. Highly recommend Design Build & Construct - Doda for any building or drainage work. Solid professional job from start to finish!

Tiling- 25 Jun 2026
The initial project was to tile my bathroom, tiled the floor to satisfactory standard, but then made several mistakes with the wall tiling, stuck on chipped tiles, and blamed it on the quality of the tiles. Consistently demanded for money despite the agreement being upon completion of work. Refused to remove the damaged tiles he installed incorrectly. We were then on good terms. Today, it was agreed for him to adjust a radiator and to cut a wall. Stated, he apparently came at 6am, however did absolutely nothing, text me at 8.30am saying he cannot throw the rubbish, left my flat in a terrible state, all the removed tiles were smashed in to pieces and dumped on the floor. At the start of the project, he agreed to clean only the rubbish which accumulates from the work he does and this was confirmed in writing. Despite this agreement, I still offered to pay him to do the cleaning, however he refused. I feel very distressed by the way he has left my home. DO NOT HIRE HIM, HE WILL ROB YOU!

Overall, I was happy with the work Terry carried out. The bedroom was painted to a good standard, and communication was good throughout. The work was completed on time. As an additional task, Terry was happy to put up some blinds for an agreed cost, which I appreciated. There were a few minor areas where the paint finish could have been better, particularly when viewed up close, so I ended up doing a handful of small touch-ups myself. That said, these were only minor details and didn't detract from the general quality of the job. Overall, I'm pleased with the finished result and would be happy to recommend Terry to anyone looking for a reliable decorator.

Questions to ask a Pimlico painter and decorator

Choosing a Pimlico painter and decorator isn’t just about finding someone who can apply a coat of paint. It’s about working with someone who genuinely cares about how your home looks and feels. Here are some questions to help you make the right choice:

What types of projects have you completed in Pimlico?

From period terraces and cottage interiors to modern flats, each property in Pimlico has its own character. Ask your painter or decorator about their experience with homes similar to yours, and what finishes or materials they recommend for your walls or woodwork.

Can you share photos or examples of your recent work?

Before-and-after images give you a sense of their style, attention to detail, and how they approach surfaces or colours. Many painters and decorators feature their work on MyBuilder, so it’s easy to browse through and see what inspires you.

Do you have references from past clients in Pimlico?

Hearing how others describe their workmanship, communication, and reliability can make your decision easier. You can also check reviews on MyBuilder to see how previous customers felt about their results.

How do you prepare surfaces and deal with cracks or damp patches?

Proper prep makes all the difference. A good decorator will explain how they handle imperfections before painting to ensure your new finish lasts.

Are you familiar with local rules for decorating listed or conservation buildings in Pimlico?

Decorating listed buildings in Pimlico sometimes needs formal consent to protect architectural significance. Knowing how to navigate these regulations and whether specific materials or colours are required can make a big difference in avoiding fines or costly rework.

FAQ: Common questions about Pimlico painting and decorating services

How long does a typical painting and decorating project take in Pimlico?

Project length varies with the size and nature of the work. A single room might take a few days, while larger jobs like whole-house decorating or detailed woodwork can take several weeks. Factors like surface preparation, drying times, and weather conditions for exterior work also affect the schedule.

What kind of paint or finishes are suitable for Pimlico homes?

In Pimlico, common choices include matte and eggshell finishes for interiors due to their elegant look and ease of touch-ups. For exterior surfaces, weather-resistant paints that cope with the local climate, such as moisture and temperature changes, are essential for lasting protection.

How do decorators prepare surfaces in older or period homes in Pimlico?

Surface preparation in Pimlico may involve cleaning, filling cracks, sanding, and sometimes treating issues like dampness. Proper prep is key to paint adhesion and finish durability, especially in homes with plaster, lath walls, or older wood.

Will painters and decorators in Pimlico help with colour selection or test samples?

Many decorators offer guidance on colour choices based on lighting and room use and can provide sample swatches or test patches to help you visualise the final look before commitment.
