Painting & Decorating- 17 Aug 2026
The standard of work was not what I expected, the quality was very poor. They were unreliable waiting around all day not knowing if he was going to arrive sometimes late morning or afternoon. I am having to again pay out for the work to be redone. My new flooring will have to be recoated to remove the excessive amount of paint and glue on the surface. The panelling work he did was amateurish. I have had to bring in a professional company (which I mistakenly thought I had hired and paid in the first place)to look at the awful condition the panelling was left in and to get it all redone properly at an extra cost to myself. The damage is endless from damaged skirting to holes in the fencing due to high pressure jet wash knocking the wood knots out of the fencing which he didn’t finish and left. As in other reviews he offers to come back and put it right but in his own time. I wouldn’t let Prime finish decorators near my new home ever again. For your own stress levels, financial loss Avoid

Painter & Decorator in Notting Hill
Hi, I'm a painter and decorator with 5 years of experience, based in North London. I have my own car, so I'm happy to travel for jobs across London and the surrounding areas. Most of my experience has been working with set-building companies, painting for live events, theatre productions and film sets, where attention to detail and high-quality finishes are essential. Alongside that, I've also worked on a range of home renovations, helping transform spaces with a clean, professional finish. I'm especially skilled at surface preparation, making sure walls are perfectly smooth before painting, and I'm known for my neat cutting-in and attention to detail. I also have experience with scenic painting, so if you're looking for something a bit more creative—like a fun mural or themed children's bedroom—I'd be happy to help. I take pride in doing every job properly, keeping things tidy, and making sure my clients are happy with the final result. Whether it's refreshing a single room or decorating an entire home, you can count on me for reliable, high-quality work.

Questions to ask a Notting Hill painter and decorator

Choosing a Notting Hill painter and decorator isn’t just about finding someone who can apply a coat of paint. It’s about working with someone who genuinely cares about how your home looks and feels. Here are some questions to help you make the right choice:

What types of projects have you completed in Notting Hill?

From period terraces and cottage interiors to modern flats, each property in Notting Hill has its own character. Ask your painter or decorator about their experience with homes similar to yours, and what finishes or materials they recommend for your walls or woodwork.

Can you share photos or examples of your recent work?

Before-and-after images give you a sense of their style, attention to detail, and how they approach surfaces or colours. Many painters and decorators feature their work on MyBuilder, so it’s easy to browse through and see what inspires you.

Do you have references from past clients in Notting Hill?

Hearing how others describe their workmanship, communication, and reliability can make your decision easier. You can also check reviews on MyBuilder to see how previous customers felt about their results.

How do you prepare surfaces and deal with cracks or damp patches?

Proper prep makes all the difference. A good decorator will explain how they handle imperfections before painting to ensure your new finish lasts.

Are you familiar with local rules for decorating listed or conservation buildings in Notting Hill?

Decorating listed buildings in Notting Hill sometimes needs formal consent to protect architectural significance. Knowing how to navigate these regulations and whether specific materials or colours are required can make a big difference in avoiding fines or costly rework.

How long does a typical painting and decorating project take in Notting Hill?

Project length varies with the size and nature of the work. A single room might take a few days, while larger jobs like whole-house decorating or detailed woodwork can take several weeks. Factors like surface preparation, drying times, and weather conditions for exterior work also affect the schedule.

What kind of paint or finishes are suitable for Notting Hill homes?

In Notting Hill, common choices include matte and eggshell finishes for interiors due to their elegant look and ease of touch-ups. For exterior surfaces, weather-resistant paints that cope with the local climate, such as moisture and temperature changes, are essential for lasting protection.

How do decorators prepare surfaces in older or period homes in Notting Hill?

Surface preparation in Notting Hill may involve cleaning, filling cracks, sanding, and sometimes treating issues like dampness. Proper prep is key to paint adhesion and finish durability, especially in homes with plaster, lath walls, or older wood.

Will painters and decorators in Notting Hill help with colour selection or test samples?

Many decorators offer guidance on colour choices based on lighting and room use and can provide sample swatches or test patches to help you visualise the final look before commitment.
