Painter & Decorator in Holland Park
My name is Leonardo, I'm 23 years and I have a lot of willingness and desire to work, if necessary I can work 7 days a week 10h+ a day. I don't run away from work, I'm 100% focussed on it I've been working as a painter for 2 years, I really like the work. I started autonomously in the profession, I went through some companies but the one that was a school for me was MCLOUGHLIN. I currently live in Croydon, Zone 3 but I can work anywhere in London. I'm also always open to learning new things and I have no quirks, I do the work exactly as they ask me to do. I want to give a good life to my parents and my girlfriend, my dream is to be a father so I want to work as much as possible to stabilise myself as soon as possible to fulfil this dream.

Carpentry- 20 Sep 2021
He quoted for 1 day’s labour for my carpentry work. First day he made a mistake so I had to buy new architraves, then he left after 3 hours work due to a personal issue. I was very understanding and he assured me he’d return to finish the job. He returned and made another big mistake. I had told him on the first day which side to hang the door. This was very important because of where the light switch was. In case he forgot, I left notes all over the door lining stating where the door hinge should go. He ignored my notes and put the door on the wrong side. When I noticed after I got back he said he would not change it because he asked someone whether to listen to my note and they both decided that it was better on the other side. He did not notice where the light switch was. Now you have to open the door, enter into a dark room, close the door and search in the dark for the light switch. He refused to correct his mistake and said he’d spent 2 days doing 1 day’s work so he couldn’t correct it. I was shocked as he went home after 3 hours to take care of his personal stuff. This had inconvenienced me as I had to delay painting the room because he left, so I couldn’t believe that he would use his own cancellation as an excuse for not correcting his mistake. I was really let down by this behaviour. The other work he did was ok but 2 mistakes cost me to replace architraves and will cost me further to replace and install the door. Mistakes happen but not correcting them is terrible

Questions to ask a Holland Park painter and decorator

What types of projects have you completed in Holland Park?

From period terraces and cottage interiors to modern flats, each property in Holland Park has its own character. Ask your painter or decorator about their experience with homes similar to yours, and what finishes or materials they recommend for your walls or woodwork.

Can you share photos or examples of your recent work?

Before-and-after images give you a sense of their style, attention to detail, and how they approach surfaces or colours. Many painters and decorators feature their work on MyBuilder, so it’s easy to browse through and see what inspires you.

Do you have references from past clients in Holland Park?

Hearing how others describe their workmanship, communication, and reliability can make your decision easier. You can also check reviews on MyBuilder to see how previous customers felt about their results.

How do you prepare surfaces and deal with cracks or damp patches?

Proper prep makes all the difference. A good decorator will explain how they handle imperfections before painting to ensure your new finish lasts.

Are you familiar with local rules for decorating listed or conservation buildings in Holland Park?

Decorating listed buildings in Holland Park sometimes needs formal consent to protect architectural significance. Knowing how to navigate these regulations and whether specific materials or colours are required can make a big difference in avoiding fines or costly rework.

FAQ: Common questions about Holland Park painting and decorating services

How long does a typical painting and decorating project take in Holland Park?

Project length varies with the size and nature of the work. A single room might take a few days, while larger jobs like whole-house decorating or detailed woodwork can take several weeks. Factors like surface preparation, drying times, and weather conditions for exterior work also affect the schedule.

What kind of paint or finishes are suitable for Holland Park homes?

In Holland Park, common choices include matte and eggshell finishes for interiors due to their elegant look and ease of touch-ups. For exterior surfaces, weather-resistant paints that cope with the local climate, such as moisture and temperature changes, are essential for lasting protection.

How do decorators prepare surfaces in older or period homes in Holland Park?

Surface preparation in Holland Park may involve cleaning, filling cracks, sanding, and sometimes treating issues like dampness. Proper prep is key to paint adhesion and finish durability, especially in homes with plaster, lath walls, or older wood.

Will painters and decorators in Holland Park help with colour selection or test samples?
