How long does a typical painting and decorating project take in Dalston?

Project length varies with the size and nature of the work. A single room might take a few days, while larger jobs like whole-house decorating or detailed woodwork can take several weeks. Factors like surface preparation, drying times, and weather conditions for exterior work also affect the schedule.

What kind of paint or finishes are suitable for Dalston homes?

In Dalston, common choices include matte and eggshell finishes for interiors due to their elegant look and ease of touch-ups. For exterior surfaces, weather-resistant paints that cope with the local climate, such as moisture and temperature changes, are essential for lasting protection.

How do decorators prepare surfaces in older or period homes in Dalston?

Surface preparation in Dalston may involve cleaning, filling cracks, sanding, and sometimes treating issues like dampness. Proper prep is key to paint adhesion and finish durability, especially in homes with plaster, lath walls, or older wood.

Will painters and decorators in Dalston help with colour selection or test samples?

Many decorators offer guidance on colour choices based on lighting and room use and can provide sample swatches or test patches to help you visualise the final look before commitment.

Painting & Decorating- 12 Aug 2018
Hired this guy for painting 2 rooms and laying laminate flooring, he insisted on a deposit which I paid and daily payments which I also paid. However, after the first day I noticed that him and his worker that were meant to work onsite was actually only him for most of the day and the job was not progressing well at all. I mentioned this to him and the next day was no different, only him and slow progress. I had paid >50% of the painting job and he was barely 20% done and well below a professional standard. I raised my concerns and advised I will pay the rest on completion. So on the 3rd day he turns up over an hour late and goes off after 30min, his other worker turned up after him and left within the hour. At 1pm there still was no sign of either of them so I called the job off. He refused to reimburse any money and came and took his stuff. The business card he gave us was for Flooring by Us LTD, a company that was dissolved years ago. We have now also found out that he has damaged our newly laid tiles that cost us a lot of money, he had covered it up with masking tape and we only just took it off and realised. I do not recommend him if you want a good job done. Terrible experience, waste of time and money. I have pictures for anyone wishing to see them, contact me on zak111d@gmail.com
