Restoration & Refurbishment- 4 Sep 2020
Octavian is a really great guy, very reliable, never disappoint, maintained good communication with us all the time. As a customer, obviously the most important part is great craftmanship, we have used other teams before and you can easily tell the difference between his work and the others. From things such as painting (you can tell they have paint and sand multiple times to provide such great finishing), tile installation (the gap between each tile is tiny, and they are very flat), Octavian’s team can get them all done. This job involves a full flat refurbishment, so the flat was completely stripped, knocked down a few walls, install new pipes / wire etc. During his work he has spotted many things that we have not noticed before. Unlike some other contractors who do not care, they will just finish what they were asked to do and leave. Octavian spotted it and recommend us the best solution for it, to provide the best outcome for the project. It is important to find someone who do care about the customer and the project. We will use him again for our future projects. Thanks. Tommy

Tiling- 24 May 2026
I cannot recommend John from Pacho Create Ltd highly enough. I'm a very particular client with high standards, I was impressed by his care, patience, and professionalism throughout. He clearly takes pride in delivering quality work and paid close attention to every detail. Living in a small flat, I was concerned about dust, but John proactively created a solution to minimise disruption, which I really appreciated. He also gave excellent advice on budget-friendly waterproofing products. We had a challenge with large-format tiles, but John worked closely with me to plan the layout, ensuring a natural, balanced finish. The workmanship is outstanding – minimal wastage, precise alignment, and superb attention to detail. I wouldn’t hesitate to use John again, in fact, I’m already planning to have him back to tile around my bath in the near future. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled, reliable professional.

Architecture- 18 Aug 2025
Despite some initial positives, the project was ultimately marred by poor communication, unprofessional conduct & serious breaches of trust. We strongly advise against using Bluelime due to the stress, financial impact, & unresolved issues we faced. While kitchen & bathroom installations were OK & progressed quickly, Bluelime deviated from approved plans in a conservation area, causing compliance issues (estimated correction costs of £15–£20k). Heating & insulation were poorly installed, & second opinions confirmed our dissatisfaction. Communication broke down, with responses defensive and intimidating. Costs rose unexpectedly (e.g. door fitting from £1200 to £2640) & inflated quotes in later stages. The property wasn’t ready for move-in multiple times, disrupting our young family. Additional concerns included missing tools, ignored warranties, inconsistent workmanship & misleading claims about affiliations. We urge others to check Bluelime (Alton Campbell) on Companies House.

I met Charlie and his team from CM Builders Ltd when they were completing a loft extension and ground floor extension for one of my neighbours. Quotation and budget I was given an estimate subject to drawings as I was on a strict budget that I had to keep to for the build. Charlie was able to help me keep to the budget, both at the final agreed plan and during the build. The project was complex in that whilst it was a loft extension, all of the house was rebuilt. The only thing kept was the external walls and first floor rafters. Whilst the footprint of the first floor was not being changed I wanted to bring it up to current building standards with extra insulation. All of the plumbing and electrics were also replaced including a new boiler. The overall build has come in on budget, save for agreed enhancements that I did not think of at the planning stage and or building regulations such as double ceiling fire plaster boards. There were also items such as the original stairs that I wanted to keep, but Charlie was able to increase the height space in the kitchen making the worktop much more usable for tall people for a larger part of the kitchen. These were suggested to me as potential options as part of the build. Stage payments The stage payments have all been sensible throughout the build and linked to the ongoing work schedule. I have not therefore had any concerns in this regard. Quality of work This was a very complicated build as unlike the ground floor the first and new second floor are “L” shaped. The new 2nd floor included an en-suite and 2 bedrooms. Overall the house has been increased from 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom, to four doubles and 2 bathrooms. The quality of work is excellent and Charlie project manages his team to ensure that they all deliver to a high standard- if it is not done correctlt they do it again, with Charlie spotting any issues. Timeline of build This has generally gone to plan very well. As with any build you have to be realistic as things will happen outside of anyone’s control. When issues have arisen Charlie manages them to a conclusion. Also be realistic if you are having to manage to a tight budget. I had to plan for various stage receipts of cash before I could order the kitchen and bathroom items - make sure you understand how this impacts the build and availability of the work force, recognising that CM Builders have to book kitchen fitters and plumbers. CM Builders are also very helpful in that they have sorted out issues with the brick work of my freestanding garage (nothing to do with the build) and also a neighbour’s wall that could have been dangerous to the public, should it have failed. Conclusion The whole family are very pleased with the outcome and we now have the equivalent of a brand new house that has been built to a very high standard. This has definitely been worth doing both from a valuation perspective and quality of life perspective. I would not hesitate to instruct Charlie and his team again.

Alexandr was a pleasure to deal with, frequently visiting the site to discuss variations with us and keeping us updated with progress. Kitchen Fitting- 3 Oct 2026
After being let down by two previous “painters and decorators”, I was dubious about hiring Alex based on some of his reviews. I couldn’t have been more wrong! Alex is an absolute lifesaver and a godsend. After speaking over the phone and reviewing the job the following day, Alex and his lovely dad, Peter, completed my flat-pack kitchen fit-out in just three days! From day one I was blown away by their professionalism, efficiency and work ethic. Alex listened to my requirements and concerns, was incredibly understanding, and genuinely cared about doing the job properly. His work ethic is something you rarely see these days from my experience. There's still plenty to do around the house and I'll be calling Alex when I’m ready for the next stage. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. I’m thrilled with the work so far. Thank you Alex, for being so hardworking, reliable and understanding, especially after the time, money and stress I’d lost with previous contractors. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐

What to ask loft boarding professionals in Hackney Wick before hiring?

Before the boarding work begins, asking a few simple questions will help you choose the right loft boarding service in Hackney Wick for your roof space.

Have you completed similar loft boarding jobs recently?

Check that they have handled jobs like yours before, from fitting standard raised boards to installing new loft ladders and hatches. Many loft boarding companies in Hackney Wick share customer feedback, case studies, or before-and-after photos on their MyBuilder profiles.

What boarding system will you use?

Ask how the installer will fit the boards into your loft. It is crucial that they use a raised system (like loft legs or timber sub-frames) so that your loft insulation is not squashed and has proper air flow.

Do you hold public liability insurance?

Always confirm that any loft boarding professional in Hackney Wick carries valid public liability insurance before work begins. This protects you if accidental damage is caused to your property or if someone is injured during the job. Most contractors should be able to provide proof of their cover without hesitation.

Will you assess whether my loft can safely support the boarding?

Before any boards go down, a good installer should check that your ceiling joists are strong enough to bear the added weight, particularly if you plan to store heavy items.

If there are any concerns, they should be upfront about what reinforcement may be needed before the work goes ahead.

Do you handle all aspects of the job, including electrics?

Ask if the loft boarding services include fitting loft lights, switches, or roof windows. If they do electrical work, local professionals should confirm they are Part P compliant and legally permitted to safely complete the job.

Can you provide a written quote before starting the work?

Always ask for a detailed, written quote outlining labour, materials, timelines and any potential extra costs. This can help you compare prices across loft boarding companies in Hackney Wick, to make sure you are getting the right value for you.

FAQs: Common questions about loft boarding in Hackney Wick

Do I need planning permission for loft boarding in Hackney Wick?

In most cases, boarding your loft for basic storage falls under permitted development and does not require planning permission. However, if you live in a listed building or a conservation area in Hackney Wick, it is always best to check with your local authority before any work begins.

Will boarding my loft in Hackney Wick affect my home's insulation?

Not if it is done correctly. Loft boarding companies in Hackney Wick use raised systems, such as timber sub-frames or loft legs, to elevate the boards above your existing insulation. This prevents the insulation from being squashed, to make sure your home stays warm and energy-efficient.

How long does it take to board a loft in Hackney Wick?

A standard loft boarding job in an average-sized home usually takes one to two days to complete.

If you are asking a loft boarding company in Hackney Wick to add extras like a new drop-down hatch, a timber ladder, or custom shelving, the project may take a little longer.

It's easy to request a timeline from Hackney Wick loft boarding companies on MyBuilder. Simply post your job today and get matched with professionals in your area.

Will boarding my new-build loft in Hackney Wick void my warranty?

Many homeowners worry that adding storage space will invalidate their NHBC or similar new build warranty. As long as loft boarding companies in Hackney Wick use a raised system that doesn't squash the insulation or require cutting into the roof trusses, your warranty should remain intact. However, it is always a good idea to check your specific policy wording, too.

How much weight can a boarded loft safely hold?

A standard boarded loft is designed for light domestic storage, such as suitcases, holiday decorations, and boxes of clothes. It is not built to support heavy furniture or serve as a living space.

A professional loft boarding company in Hackney Wick will use sub-frames to distribute the weight evenly across your joists.
