The original lead gulley was split in two places and leaking, the gulley is 330cm long so should be fitted in two pieces ( standard practice 1.5m sections max), Fitted new code 4 in two pieces, overlapped 300mm and lead silicone sealer in overlapping, found that still had small leak, went back out and it was heavy rain and could see gulley was filling up at back end , no fall on the boards. I sheeted you the gulley in torrential rain and came back next dry day and bought new 6m code 4 roll and fitted in one piece, I also removed slates to both sides, before fitting lead, left the lead fitted first at back end and put the front lead at the rear to raise it up to help the fall, Fitted new lead gulley in one section, fitted new breathable membrane under existing membrane which was ok but thought I’d go OTT this time. Fitted all slates back in place, replacing any broken slates and even the cracked ones to make sure everything was good. Customer calls few days later after rain saying still leaking, not possible in theory, but I know rain water can do funny things, called round few days later to be told he had got someone else. They couldn’t point out the cause of leak just said the gulley was not good and he needed to rip out and fit full new gulley, he was just getting a job. As I wasn’t aloud to check it out second time don’t know what happened. I understand that it looks bad as I did it 2 times, gulley should have fall and a step down at 1.5m
