He arrived on time and advised me of what had to be done, to trim the tree right back. Because of a personal problem he very kindly did the job for free. What a gent.Answer from tradesperson:

Review left on 2 Feb 2026Rating: 3 out of 5Remove 1 tree and trim back other treesI was pleased with the tree and stump removals. I think they also did a decent job with the hedge trimming although I had expected them to go higher but they advised it was not necessary (we needed clearance for scaffolding). The reason why I have only given 3 stars was that the estimated cost on My Builder was a lot lower than the quote when they attended to complete the work despite, I think, my descriptions being accurate plus providing photos. We had run out of time to use another tree-surgeon so had to go with them despite the price hike. I had also not factored in VAT being added but that was my error. They were also 4 hours late when they visited although some of this delay was due to road closures, and they had to come back the following day with the right equipment to remove the stump (even though this was always described as part of the job).Answer from tradesperson:
Thanks for the feedback, a bit disappointing with it tbh, as the estimate was only a estimate, wich I said before we started any works and the extra price of £130 was again agreed by your husband before any works was carried out. I also took out a stump free of charge which i put on the invoice, as your job was a 2 day job or required 2x vehicles,van & stump grinder and truck and wood chipper so I think £580 was a bargain for your job! With the traffic there was a car on fire on the a2 and i did inform you, we was running late but we still turned up despite being stuck in traffic for over 2 hours, Wish you all the best and good luck, Thanks max

Made sure when cutting the tree branches, he aimed it into my garden to avoid the neighbours. He did it very quickly too and removed the stump with his machine.
