Fix wardrobe door and front door

Garry was very quick to respond, communicated quickly and was very helpful in seeking information to understand how best to do the job. In the end, I gave the job to someone else and there was a misunderstanding with Garry which was entirely my fault. Garry was understanding and I would certainly consider using his services in the future. I recommend him.

    Boxing in boiler/pipes

Gary is a first class, high standard, well communicated worker. Gary worked for me and he is certainly a master of his craft. Gary made a cupboard for my boiler and boxed in some very unsightly pipes, such a good job. I was kept informed all the way through the job, informed me exactly how he was going to execute the job, very polite guy, I just cannot fault him. I will certainly have no hesitation in hiring Gary again for any job that I may have. I was also pleased with his price. He left my kitchen lovely and clean. Again cant recommend him enough.

    New skirting

Nothing but positive feedback for Garry. After struggling for months for someone to do this job I am really pleased with the end result. Garry completed the work well in advance of the deadline despite the fact that I added to the original request. He went out of his way to do a great job. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again or recommend him.

    Multi-Skilled Tradesmen Required

We hired Garry to complete various small and larger tasks across a few of our new build developments, all the work completed was done to an extremely high standard and we will be continuing to work with him going forward.

    Various household jobs

Garry exceeded expectations. He made time available in advance of original estimate. Work was carried out skillfully, all areas cleaned as he went and he offered advice as to the most secure method of installation. I have no hesitation in recommending him and will use him for jobs in the future

    Toilet seat quick fix

Garry was exceptionally well-organised and good at communicating before, during and after the job. Garry listened to the brief carefully and was efficient, polite with my tenants and sorted out the problem (that had been dragging on and not fixed by other builders from this site). Great value for money and a nice job done. I would hire Garry again no hesitation. Thanks Garry! Big thumbs up from me.

    Creaky stairs require repair

Started well responded quickly. Came in and insisted that he would have to cut into the half landing to do more investigation. spent two hours doing that the glued and gaffer taped everything together and said he'd send me a quote. A week later after chasing he sent me a quote more than twice what he'd initially estimated )almost 3 times actually) and pushed for a commitment saying he was very busy and needed a 50% deposit up front to do the work. I pressed him on a start date twice by text, but he ignored my question. His quote did no break down materials and labour so it wasn't clear why he wanted £400 up front as a deposit before starting the work. The materials were not expected to be anywhere near that and I a bad feeling about him and declined his offer. I'm sure that GDW are honest and reliable, but I have no previous experience dealing with them. I did explain to him that I'd lost confidence in him due to his behaviour and lack of transparency of his quotation which was no more than two lines (describing a repair at high level) and without an details of materials required. I will look to have his "exploratory work" and the original issue repaired by another tradesman.

    Answer from tradesperson:

Dear Sherif, Thank you for providing your honest feedback. After conducting the initial investigation, it appears that the lower stair treads have been hacked, butchered, and coated in thick layers of PVA and screwed together with chipboard and drywall screws. If the advert had stated putting right someone else's work, I would not have proceeded with the lead. In order to understand the extent of the damage and determine the best course of action, I needed to examine the underside of the lower staircase as all the replacement components, treads, risers, glue blocks and wedges would be fitted from behind. Based on the initial assessment, the provisional estimate for the necessary investigation works was £90, which includes a two-hour time allocation. If it is was determined that the fault could have be rectified, I would have been more than willing to assist with the repairs, but sadly on this occasion I have seen abandoned pallets In better condition than your lower staircase. The gaffer tape was put on the softwood bullnose edges of existing to prevent splinters as the carpet had to removed to view. Sadly on this occassion the staircase was more or a rebuild than a repair. the second estimate reflected umassembling existing lower staircase , supplying and fitting new parts and labour.
