He quoted £250 for labour. He arrived mid afternoon and rushed through the job in less than 3 hours. I paid him and he left. I then went up to the bathroom and when I put the toilet seat down and looked down at the toilet I could see it was crooked in relation to the cistern and wall, then the toilet started leaking. By the time he came back there were multiple leaks on the toilet and under the washbasin. He finished the job and said everything was now dry and left.
The following day it was clear that there were joints that still leaked so I contacted him and told him.
When he came back he had to move the pedestal out a little from below the sink to get to the pipes and in the process the basin came away from the wall. He had connected the basin to the wall with flexible filler alone. He hadn't used the screws and wall plugs that were supplied with the washbasin. He seems to have thrown those away. Finally he said the job was finished, everything was dry and he left. When I went into the kitchen I could hear dripping. Water was splashing onto the worktop. I quickly put a bowl under it and phoned Sam. He came back and said everything was OK it would stop and everything would dry out, and then left. The kitchen floor flooded.
When I looked for the cause of the problem I could see, just below the floorboards in the bathroom, the drain pipe from the washbasin was totally disconnected from the main drainpipe. At this point I totally gave up on Sam.
