The price was £1490 because Alex done extra work fitting a new toilet and tiling.
Overall the job was satisfactory and the bathroom looks good. But I explained to Alex its no good having a bathroom that looks good but does not function properly. toilet floor. All agreed. Hence the neutral rating.
While I was initally told the job would take one week, it in fact took 12 days. I agreed that it could take longer as I did not want the job rushed. Alex should have known it would have taken more than 7 days having viewed the job.
Having seen the job I was quoted roughly £100 to £150 for materials i.e pipes, adhesive, grout ect, the final cost was £490. I find it hard to understand why the quote was so inaccurate.
Alex is a nice guy and helpful but, I found that if I was not happy about something he'd say that I was "quite fussy". I had an expectation that work was to be done to my satisfaction and to a high standard, as guaranteed.
His co-worker's (Glen) tiling I cannot fault. However, he was going to fix my quartz crystal tiles with normal ready mixed adhesive. I had to insist he followed the manufacturers advice, something he done reluctantly. He later said the tiles were new to him and he knew nothing about them. Luckily I did.
The bath taps do not look level, Alex assures me that it is not the workmanship but the walls not being straight. The tap drips and one part of the tap does not line up with the other. Alex puts both of these down to a design fault.
Alex installed a toilet with an integral sink which should run the tap water automatically once flushed, it does not. Alex put this down to a manufacturer's fault.
The sink installed is leaking. Alex came back and check this out. He put the leak down to gaps in the tap a "design fault".
Alex has agreed to come back and rectify any work which is down him/ his colleague's workmanship and not a "design fault".
I would have preferred to have waited for the above matters to have been resolved before I left feedback but, Alex requested I do it A.S.A.P.
Alex I hope you find my feedback a fair representation of the facts. I know you think I'm fussy but, I feel as a paying customer I need to be happy with the job for which I have paid.
