I started trading in 2004 as bathroom and kitchen fitter. Since then I've done many projects, those large and really small. All jobs were finished with great attention to details, satisfaction and great appreciation of all my clients.

I'm Tom, the person behind Furze & Fix — a local handyman service based in Furzedown, South London. I've been hands-on with DIY and home improvement projects since studying Design & Technology at school, and over the years that's grown into a genuine passion for building and fixing things properly. I've increasingly been taking on professional work and am now looking to offer my services more widely. I offer a range of general handyman services but my particular strength is joinery — things like decking, shelving, and general woodwork, where I take pride in getting the details right. I'm also happy to help with furniture assembly and general home fixes. By trade I'm a chartered engineer with a mechanical engineering degree, so accuracy, proper planning, and doing a job to a high standard aren't optional extras for me — they're second nature. I don't currently take on electrical or plumbing work, but for anything in the carpentry, assembly, or general handyman space, I'd love to help. I'm continuing to build a reputation job by job, so you can expect care, reliability, and a tidy finish every time. I'm new to the mybuilder platform so don't have any reviews here as yet, but references from previous jobs available on request.

I’ve built up my handyman experience over many years, starting from a young age helping my dad with all sorts of jobs around the house and even on cars. He had a real knack for fixing things, and I was always by his side learning as he helped friends and family with anything that needed doing. Now in my 50s, I’ve taken on and completed a wide range of projects to a high standard. While I haven’t worked formally in the building industry, I only take on jobs I know I can deliver properly and with care. Some people might call it a “husband for hire” service—and I’m perfectly happy with that. I genuinely enjoy DIY, and it’s something I still love doing in my spare time as well as for others.
