Are groundworkers required to have insurance?

Groundworkers are not legally required to have insurance, but it’s highly recommended. Most groundworkers near you will hold public liability insurance to protect against damage to property or injury caused during the job. Always ask for proof of insurance before hiring.

Do groundworkers offer guarantees on their work?

Yes, many groundworkers near you will provide a guarantee on their work. This typically lasts from a few months to several years, depending on the project. Make sure you understand what’s covered, such as defects or issues due to poor workmanship.

What should I ask a groundworker before hiring them?

Before hiring a groundworker near you, ask about their insurance, previous projects, and approach to site preparation. Discuss timelines, costs, and payment terms, and request references or examples of similar work.

How much deposit should I pay a groundworker?

It’s normal to pay around **10% to 20%** of the total cost upfront, but always agree on this in writing before work begins. Avoid paying large deposits and ensure there’s a clear contract outlining expectations.

How can I check if a groundworker near me is a good fit?

Start by reviewing their MyBuilder profile, where you can see photos of past jobs, customer feedback, and business details. It’s also worth meeting them in person to discuss the project and see how they plan to approach your site.

I received a leaflet though the door from classic paving & landscaping, we decided to give them a call for a quote on some new fences, post and gravel boards. Dave was very friendly and helpful throughout the job, giving us great advice about materials, and what the job entailed. With such great advice and reassurance we had the job done. And without disappointment, Dave delivered, with great timekeeping, manners and cleanliness. My animals were still able to use the garden why they was working as Dave and his team was organised, with there area clearly marked off. To say we are pleased with the job is an understatement, I would definitely use them again in the near future, they were professional throughout.

I can honestly say Dans work is nothing other than exceptional. The guys today landed early as planned and completed an outstanding job for us, communication throughout has been precise and Dan ensured that during the relay we were happy with his ideas, thoughts & progress for completing our job throughout the day. I took a risk with this one as Dan didn’t have any photos of any previous works online but honestly don’t even think twice about commissioning Dan for your work as his attitude and standards to his work are literally second to none and I’m sure in the near future he’s going to be very busy, thanks boys I’m over the moon !! 👍
