Question 1

How far in advance should I book a gardener in York?

Accepted Answer

For smaller jobs like a lawn mow, hedge trim, or a one-off tidy, a week or two is usually enough outside of the spring rush. For larger work - turfing, a full clearance, or a redesign - allow at least three to four weeks, and more in March and April when demand picks up quickly.

Question 2

Do York gardeners know which plants cope well with the local soils?

Accepted Answer

A good local gardener should, yes. York's predominantly clay soils and the wetter periods through spring mean that plant choices that work well in drier, lighter-soiled parts of the country don't always translate here.

Question 3

Will a gardener in York take the green waste away?

Accepted Answer

It varies between gardeners. Some include waste removal as standard, others charge separately or expect you to arrange it independently. Always ask upfront.

Question 4

What's the difference between a gardener and a landscaper in York?

Accepted Answer

Gardeners typically focus on ongoing care - mowing, planting, pruning, and keeping things in good shape through the seasons. Landscapers tend to take on larger structural projects. Many professionals in York do both.

Question 5

How do I find customer reviews for gardeners in York?

Accepted Answer

MyBuilder is the straightforward way to do it. Every gardener on the platform has a profile page showing reviews left by previous customers alongside photos of completed jobs.
