L & H Building and Groundworks provided a concrete base for a garden office. The price was within budget and when the turned up, they were on time, the equipment they used was professional and clean and Jake was very courteous. The area was kept clean at all times and the front garden and decking was protected throughout the job, so all in all I found them a very professional company to work with and would recommend them to anyone who would require their services.

Firstly we all know how builders generally are, late, never finish the job, always on a break or popping out to do something, on another job, cutting corners, finish early and once you pay them you never see them again etc etc etc Patrick is as far away from that as possible. Grafts, really really grafts. Is tidy and tidies up after himself.Works almost non stop. The price is the real price, none of this oh it'll cost a little more because.... Is sounds, reliable and if you ask his advice it's straight and all about getting the best value for you. Came up fitted wood panels on wooden posts and 40m of sleepers on concreted steel uprights. Everyone who has seen it is wowed by it. Everyone who has seen his work has asked for his contact details. I have 3 friends now who have all used him and speak as highly if not more so of his work. The work he replaced was much more expensive, badly done and failed after 3 years. The quality and strength of what he has done i would place money of it have a good chance of outlasting me. I have to deal with builders all time maintaining the house, I wish i could use Patrick (Paddy) for everything. Use him, you won't regret it, nobody does, my only fear is people will realise how good he is and he'll be too busy to come do the work I need in future.

Ch roofing were the only company which gave a correct diagnosis of the issue (water leaking in through cement between the ridge tiles). All other companies suggested condensation which was clearly not correct. The team arrived promptly by 8.00 every day and worked hard until 5.00, they did not spend hours on their phones or sat in their vehicles, but diligently got on with the roofing. Fortunately we have not had rain since the job was finished, but we are confident it was well done by a responsible and professional company.

We could not fault Darren and his teams work ethic. However the issue remains of not listening to the client and the saying of ‘the customer is always right’ does not apply here. We were quoted this:’ Morning Sam here’s the quote for the wall, - 9inch - 1m high with 4 x 1.525m high piers, LBC Claydon red brick , Blue brick to cap wall and piers.’ However we have not been provided a metre height wall from the point we requested it. It is 70cm at the end we requested the metre height, not to mention the incorrect pier height. Darren addressed this in a text ‘ the 1.52 piers in the 3rd quote where a mistake on my part as it should of read 1.25.’ He made a ‘mistake’ on the pier height and this is my fault as the customer? There was also an issue taking £100 more in labour costs than was quote, when I went to pay, I asked to confirm the amount and he was happy to take more than was quoted. I note Darren rectified this, only after an email was sent highlighting the issue. This was Overall, we are left with a wall - which was the ultimate end game, however it does not meet the discussions, nor the agreements in place. I’m sure the builder will of course say otherwise. The point stands of a quote in black and white, not being honoured.
