Insulation- 13 Jul 2026
The insulation team arrived promptly on the agreed date and time, and they kept the work area very clean throughout the job. However, I was left disappointed by the lack of attention to detail during the initial quote and inspection. They completely missed calculating the area of the existing loft boarding that needed to be lifted to top up the insulation. Because of this oversight, they left the removed boarding entirely to me to handle. Furthermore, they missed laying insulation in some areas of the loft completely, which forced me to call them back out to finish the job properly. To their credit, the work they did do was tidy, but the project required far more hassle and follow-up on my part than it should have.

Giles is a very capable carpenter/builder and in the end I was overall ok with the work done. However, his behaviour and care of property left a lot to be desired. He has no customer service skills and the loudness and nature of conversations were not appropriate in a small cul de sac. Despite being asked many times by myself and even his fellow workman he continued to shout and use inappropriate language. The thing that upset me the most was just the lack of professionalism and respect for property. The work required lots of sawing and cutting of tiles. This was done all over my garden lawn and has virtually ruined it, no work sheets under the work table to stop stuff going over lawn. Paint over floor and grass, cig buts everywhere, dried cement left all over road. To be fair Giles did offer to come back and sort stuff out after I had pointed stuff out to him but to be honest I don’t want him back here. He could not sort lawn anyway and I am having to get gardener to sort. He has left bags of sand at front of property which he promised to collect - they have been here for days now. There are other issues which I will speak to My builder directly about. It’s a shame actually because I can see that Giles is actually a pretty amazing carpenter and builder. If he can sort out the other issues I reckon that he will become a top rated.

Having mentioned we were after a media unit in the front room, Nicky suggested they could make something bespoke for us and we trusted them to do it and what a fantastic job they did. Original timeline stretched a bit due to his other jobs but this was fine. Mario started work early and finished early which suited us. He came to visit and we agreed a price at the start and he stuck to it even when he realised some additional plumbing would be needed. He was honest about some accidental damage. Attention to detail is good and he has all the kit. I would have given 5 stars- he's a proper professional and I enjoyed working with him. 3 stars only because as soon as the work was done he became incommunicado (I messaged a week later to ask how to lift door which had dropped down a few mm on fridge). The warranty advertised is one of the reasons I went with MGB which was £200 more expensive than contenders so this was disappointing. I would have asked him to do my parents' new kitchen too otherwise.

Matt is an excellent electrician, and most importantly kind and honest. Fully certified with the NICEIC. He was able to come round and give me a free quote within a heart beat. The cost was very affordable and was exactly what I expected, I had received a quote from somebody else which was almost double. We needed a new cooker switch wired up to our fuse board, Matt came up with a great solution which was very unobtrusive and cost effective (no alterations to our kitchen were needed). I would fully recommend Matt to anyone that is looking for an electrician, any questions I had were answered promptly over the phone. Now we can finally have a pizza for dinner, thanks Matt.
