Hi, I have been doing carpentry since I left school and actually before I left working weekends with my Father for sharps bedrooms. After I completed my apprenticeship aged 19 I went self employed and started to work on new build sites pitching roofs and mostly doing 1st fix works. As I got slowly dispondant with new build works because of the lack of care for finishing and a general lack of pride I started to take on full refurbs and working for local builders. In this time I learnt a lot about other trades and how best to organise working with them to make sure everyone could do their best work. I am 42 now and this is the only career I have ever done so I think it’s fair to say that I have a good amount of experience obviously with carpentry, but also making sure the client gets what they wanted with as little drama as possible. All too often we see treatments like brick repointing/rendering, DPC/wall injections, cleaning /replacing guttering, roof/flashing work, wall insulation linings, replastering that fail because they assume the problem is some sort of defect and have no effect on the real root cause. Furthermore, because the true root cause of damp issues stops for approx 6 months (Mar-Aug) in the UK we often see incorrect treatments that appear to work but only until the weather gets colder again later in the year. We dont do guesswork like this. Our surveys always pinpoint the true root cause which our solutions will permanently address so the problem never returns. Similarly our real-time radon measurement surveys identify concentration ranges that passive sensors cannot and our mitigation solutions are always permanently effective.
