⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Complete Bathroom Transformation Done Properly Scott spent four weeks carrying out two full bathroom refits for us and the results are outstanding. This was far more than a simple refurbishment - he completely stripped out the existing bathrooms, replaced rotten floorboards and damp plasterboard, renewed plumbing, and rebuilt everything from scratch. The work included two walk-in showers, hidden-cistern flush to the walll toilets, wall-mounted radiators, free standing bath and tap, floating vanity units and beautiful oak-effect shower panelling. The matching wall and floor tiles have given both rooms a modern wet-room feel. What impressed us most was Scott’s attention to detail and commitment to quality. He took the time to ask questions throughout the project and made sure we were happy with every decision before proceeding. Reliable, skilled, tidy and professional, with a finish that exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended. (Ignore wall colour, decorators next!)

Kev, turned up when he said he would and did a very good job of repositioning and repairing the damage to the windowsill. He was friendly, polite and clearly a talented stonemason. I can thoroughly recommend him and in fact, he will be coming back to do some other jobs for me.

Groundwork & Foundations- 1 Feb 2019
Steve provided an excellent and good value service, working with us to ensure the foundations were completed to Building Control requirements, including providing cost effective solutions to deal with unexpected existing foundations and excavation adjacent to party wall. Work completed to our satisfaction and in time. We are now arranging to work with Steve on the next phase of the job. Very engaging, and has the resources and tools to complete foundations, underpinning, site clearances, slabs, etc. Will definitely hire him again on future projects.

Hi, I have been working in the building trade for 27 years now. I was registered with NHBC from 2001 until 2018, with no issues. I decided to change to Build Zone for property warranties after that. I won a 4 year tender for Dorset County Council doing their general maintenance jobs. I’ve done many new build properties and extensions, barn conversions etc over the years. Four years ago I went into partnership with a close friend. Since then we have built 3 new builds, conversions and completed numerous small jobs. We have a large portfolio of work we have carried out and we also do maintenance of properties. Between the two of us, we can do most things in the building trade and we have trusted contractors that we use.

Had our roof replaced with Straightline, top quality service. As always with a big job like that, problems popped up and things didn’t always go right. We’re in one of the most exposed spots on Portland and got hit by one of the biggest storms of the year just as our roof was off, resulting in a bit of a leak. Credit to Josh and the team - they were out of bed and at my house at 1 in the morning, in the driving rain and howling winds, and got up there to make it right. Also insisted on paying to get the ceiling underneath repainted even though we were planning to do it anyway and didn’t mind. 10/10 on communication, customer service and workmanship. Cannot recommend highly enough. He should also probably charge more, I say this with reluctance as these guys will be my go to for building services going forward 😂

To be honest, most reviews are not worth much. This is because most people don't know what to look for. I've just reread the last review I wrote, which was 1*; while everyone else gave them 5. What's going on we wonder? I happen to work in construction as an assessor, so I do know what to look for. I've given Sam 5, although he was not perfect. He's probably earned it more than other 5s from people who are easily pleased. I enjoyed our discussion on historical issues; which to be honest swayed me a bit. What we are primarily concerned with in construction is the product more than the process. And although his communication left room for improvement, he is a conscientious worker who knows his business and charges a fair price. He is affable and likeable, as well as being effective. So, would I use him again? Sure.

We were happy before it rained and we thoroughly checked their work. They left mess, razor sharp edges on the glass, and glass overhanging neighbours land a little bit. We asked them to return to remedy this which they said they would do this coming Tuesday. Since then we have also noticed that they have cut our glass too short, cut the new hardwood at too steep an angle which was bodged in with wood filler, and now it's rained this new roof has massively leaked. In places where the glass is cut too short and even along the length of one of the new wooden beams; must be missing a bit of silicone. It is now Saturday and we have called them 2 days ago on Thursday, yesterday Friday we called and texted, and today again we both texted and one of us called them, to check if they are still coming on Tuesday or not. 3 days is not unreasonable to return a call or text just to confirm either way. More rain is due between now and then, concerned about lack of communication and quality of work.
