Unreliable Trademan. Came round for a quote and agreed a price then asked us to remove all tiles and 'repair' the wall. We duly did that and he came back and said that the wall was not dry for tiling. We were expecting him at the start of the week - he turned up 2 days later and told us about his 'other' job that he is being paid more for. 2 bags of adhesive were not enough and he left whilst my husband went to wickes to get the adhesive he asked for. Now not returning my calls and my bathroom is a mess while I try to find another trader.

I would highly recommend Stephen Woolgar from SDW Electric for electrical work. He provided a very competitive quote and along with being very good at his trade, Stephen is a very polite, intelligent and accommodating Electrician. Stephen is not only able to forsee possible issues with an electrical proposal on paper and thus advise accordingly but is also able to solve unforeseen problems presented on site. This is especially important in my project which was the provision of electrical supply for a future kitchen on the first floor in a 130 year old traditional house. The project, in the end, was only electrical as far as SDW Electrical was concerned. From the first meeting Stephen was very engaging and showed he was able to understand and tease out my requirements for the project which wasn’t completely formulated as I am not an Electrician. As is often with such projects, needs change and develop on advice and discussion which Stephen was very accommodating with and understanding of. Living in a house surrounded by materials required for a large renovation project impacts on ones life which can be and often is stressful. Stephen, in understanding that, helped by being very respectful of our situation, thus reducing any possible further stress. Stephen was on programme with his work but was very accommodating with some delays due to other ongoing trades. Thank you for being so understanding of this Stephen. I look forward to working with you again.

Billy came to our home to advise on poorly circulating water in our heating system after newly installed radiators. Knowing we had already spent good money on a plumber and news rads, he taught us how to hopefully resolve the issue, and even made a video to help us do it ourselves. He explained we can call him to do it if we don’t feel confident enough. This kind of attitude is very rare, and I’m sure will pay him very well down the line, by putting the customer first!

I engaged Edi to work on a full renovation and refurbishment of a 4 bedroom detached house with front and back gardens on Blackheath’s Cator Estate. Edi did an extensive amount of work, including stripping out; plumbing; plastering; windows installation; carpentry; and decoration. In addition, after commencing the property work, once the scaffold had been erected, following sensible advice, Edi and his team replaced the roof and fully insulated the attic; fitted additional electric points; rebuilt the garden patio; and replaced the flooring throughout, in addition to other important jobs including re rendering and pointing of chimneys, building new wardrobes in the main bedrooms; and upgrading the radiators. A new kitchen, and two new bathrooms have been fitted. The kitchen redesign meant knocking through a wall with the lounge to create a larger space. Edi is a highly skilled craftsman, who thinks creatively as he works to make best use of the space, including shelf fittings, and additional lighting for example. He has built some beautiful wardrobes, and the internal decorations have brightened up what was previously a rather shabby looking house. In addition to the above, I wish to commend Edi for his professionalism, courtesy, and passion for doing the best work possible. On all the site visits I attended, and every time I spoke with him on the phone, it was striking how much he cared about the work that he was doing, his desire to ensure that the house would look the best. I always left site visits with the feeling that he cared so much about the house that he could be safely relied on to give the best advice to enable us to make the right decisions. I also noticed that Edi and his team would take the upmost care to keep the property safe, tidy and in good shape throughout the project. He can be fully trusted to look after any site he works on. He is intelligent and careful when it comes to safety and security. It has been a pleasure for Edi and his team to work with us over a period of around 6 months, and he did so much to reduce the stress of a significant project so that we could always rely on him to work methodically, patiently and sensibly, and to make best use of the resources available. His pleasantness shines through, and everyone I know who has spoken to him has always provided me with the most positive feedback I have no hesitation in recommending Edi to anyone who wishes to engage him for future projects, and is most deserving of the good words that I and others that work with him have to say about him.
