We engaged NB Building Services to build an extension (new garage and room at the rear) and extensively refurbish/remodel a bungalow. I met a number of builders/building contractors but I felt immediately comfortable with Nick right from the start. It was the first time we were ever starting such a project and we wanted to follow our instinct and go with someone we could be comfortable with over the duration of the project. Right from the start Nick came across as someone who is genuine and who looks to understand your requirements. Also, as my project had a few uncertainties that could affect the scope of the project I was looking for some flexibility and I felt that Nick and his team could provide that. Nick and his team (Stefan, Boris and Ilco) work very well together as a cohesive team. Nick provided a day-to-day customer contact while scheduling tasks on the building site and coordinating material deliveries. Every member of the team worked a full day and on occasions where it was important to finish something on the day, they would stay late to finish the job. What impressed me most when the work started is that the entire team is multiskilled – they do everything from bricklaying, timberwork, roofing, plaster/skimming etc. This helped me immensely when there were minor changes or modifications. That meant we didn’t have to wait for the bricklayer or plasterer to return to the site again. Nick also operated the heavy machinery like digger/breaker etc. Once the initial structure was complete the team again impressed me with their attention to detail when they moved inside to lay down plumbing, electrical wires, gas pipes etc. Nick and Stefan took the lead on the fine finishing tasks inside while Boris and Ilco provided important support and completed a lot of other tasks inside and out. It was during this critical phase when communication is most important that I appreciated Nick’s effort to keep us informed. As far as quality of work is concerned while we were happy with everything, I think the tiling work of both Nick and Stefan is outstanding. Our project lasted for about 8 months and while there were lots of discussions on areas of the project that I did not understand and I asked a lot of questions and also changed my mind on some things I don’t remember I we ever even had a minor argument. This I felt was an important win. Nick was also generous with his time and provided help to other trades who came on site e.g. window fitters, garage door installers; boiler installers; electricians etc. Nick and his team returned a few months later to lay down a patio with porcelain tiles for us and also a driveway with block paving. Once again Nick and his team discussed with us in detail what we wanted and provided suggestions based on their experience.

Failed to turn up to multiple scheduled and agreed dates to start the job each time with an excuse. Poor communication as well. Wasted my time and impacted my project timescales. Would not recommend.

Project at let property. Nick and his team were unfailingly punctual. He was clear as to the cost of the work. They were all polite and very friendly. The work was undertaken in very unpleasant weather but was completed entirely successfully. Work stage reports were given. I was not on site but easily felt able to trust Nick and his team. It is not often that one can unconditionally recommend a tradesman with such confidence - it is well-deserved here. Any additional work was priced, for agreement. Everyone was clear as to the work to be undertaken and the relevant cost. The initial work came in on cost. I will certainly use Nick's services again.

Chris was fantastic. Had him in putting in lino in my bathroom. Bathroom is an awkward shape and needed new sub floor which Chris sorted with no issues. Genuinely cares about the service he provides and it's shows. Would recommend him to anyone and will sue again.

I would never recommend this builder. Jack promised my room would be completed in 3 days, but it took much longer, cost far more than agreed, and is still unfinished. He is super expensive as he hires other people to do the job and he doesn’t take responsibility for the results. The 1st builder was waste of time, leaving a curved wall. A 2nd builder had to fix the mistakes, and I was charged extra for it. I was also overcharged for skirting, despite Jack claiming he made no profit while all payments went to his account. Everything was agreed in writing before the work started, including cables and reinstalling the heater, but I had to hire an electrician and plumber on my own cost. The painter didn't protect my new floor, leaving paint stains everywhere, and didn't even sanded the walls properly (amateur work!). Poor workmanship, broken promises, constant extra charges, and aggressive demands for payment. I paid much more than expected and still don't have a finished room after 3 weeks
