If the tile is to be placed directly on concrete, for example, it will crack or come loose. For wood, the ideal is to apply Ditra Matting with specific wood glue, but plaster walls have to use primer and painted walls have to use Grip Primer, otherwise there is a high chance of it coming loose over time.
