BEWARE!Jamie was hired to level the ground and to lay the patio/pathway.After delays Jamie started work 10/8. More than 50% was paid upfront. On day 1 Jamie was alone & stayed 1.5hrs.He took levels, told us about what a quick & easy job it was.Day2- 3men commenced the work. No issues were raised.They left early due to the heat saying "see you tomorrow". Day 3 - Jamie & his workers did not turn up. We tried to ring him but he would not answer his phone. 11.12 I received an email stating he had booked a drain engineer for the following week & would not be doing any more work until this person had used a camera to inspect our drains. We did not ask for this and do not want it.Jamie has told us that he will not continue work until we let this happen&then pay to rectify any problems they find,stating he would not continue until this had taken place or "you would have to pay the rest of the money with no patio at the end".Jamie refuses to answer the phone, all contact has been via email. He has repeatedly been asked to continue the work he was contracted to do or return the money he has been paid.He refuses to do either. He has left our garden unsafe for my children to use, with smashed up concrete path, he has left my drive unusable as it is piled high with the soil he was paid to remove. Jamie has even threatened to sue me if I leave any negative reviews of my experience. We have since discovered Jamie previously ran two drainage engineer companies, both of which have dissolved.

Extremely satisfied. He happily goes the “extra mile” and his charges for such additional work are reasonable. Inevitably the odd unanticipated item arises in the course of the work and he discusses the options rather than making up our minds for us. His dictum that he does not leave a job for another before the first job is finished is reassuring - and fact. We have been happy to contract further work to him - including hard landscaping - on the completion of the original extension work, and are equally impressed with his performance in this.

Work not of a great standard. I had to keep pointing out mistakes and they didn’t finish the job which means I now have to find someone else in order to do so. Also quoted me £1400 for plastering a room which I got done for £700!?

We hired Lewis Building Ltd to remove an internal wall, rearrange our kitchen, fit bi-fold and patio doors, and make changes to other internal/external doors. The quote we were given was clear and concise and detailed all the work required and what it would cost. Initially, we were pleased with the structural work that was carried out but when it came to fitting the doors and the finishing of our kitchen we found the work to be sub-standard. Thomas then added extra costs onto the original quote for work that had not been agreed. When we questioned him about this he failed to return to complete the job. I have text, phoned and emailed and not had a reply. All work that was carried out was paid for so he does not have any incentive to return and finish or correct our job. I have taken extensive photographs of the finish left by Lewis Building Ltd, including gaps in the external doors, coving falling off the wall and large gaps in mitres. I even had to contact the skip company to have the skip removed as it was still in our driveway 4 weeks after Thomas failed to get back in touch with us. If you do intend to use these builders for work then be warned of extra costs added, not turning up when arranged, poor finishing, constant cleaning up after they have been and the potential of walking off the job.

Kal has agreed to take extension work to my house. He took £1000 booking fee. After taking the booking fee he refused to take the job. When I asked him to refund the booking fee he send me invoice more than booking fee for attending the site twice for few hours. He refused to refund the booking fee. Giving him a job is a big risk.

Jeremy started by taking the work on with no issues what so ever and appeared helpful and professional and nothing was to much trouble . HOWEVER.... Jeremy gave a estimate of 10 day for the work to be completed 3 months later... I am now paying someone to Fix his shoddy work and finish what he started leaving telling me "he over ran" this is was in face due to the fact in outsourced the work to other unreliable trades persons who did eventually complete the work however massively over charge and are days late with no justification. There is so much here I could write but I am reserving this for the process I am to start. All I would say is DO NOT get him to do your work I am now paying even more money, having paid HIM 5k to fix is mess. "Obsolutely disgraceful" are the words of the tradesmen fixing it. Quality of a "POOR DIY JOB" has also been said. Please yourself a favour and do not employ. Lee the electrician he works with I have no issues. How work is fine...

Job was done promptly and in a high standard. George was not lazy coming out in a weekend just to show me sample tiles to choose from. We decided to hire Smart Group, meticulously ruling out the others not only based on price, but way of their communication, professionalism and pride in their craftsmanship. We now have a beautiful watertight roof with insurance backed warranty. Even our special needs have been fairly priced and satisfied. We hope to hire Smart Group again in the coming years to do our insulation, guttering or whatever investment we think worth investing in our house. Started off brilliantly. Worked full days, friendly, professional. But once work was nearly finished builders disappeared carpenters only came occasionally. Still waiting weeks later for carpentry work, electrical work and final building work to be completed. Very disappointed, would be loath to recommend this company to anyone. Still hoping they will return to finish.
