DK proved to be totally out of their depth tackling our extension. They failed to meet every deadline they gave us. With no option, we had to give them notice to finish, or leave. With a week still to go, they have packed-up their tools (for the first time ever) and left us with promises to return. We do not expect to see them back. Our experience (5 months), is that DK work “gentleman’s hours” (at best) and take lengthy breaks away from site during their short working day. When on site, they are largely distracted by mobile phones, chit-chat, squabbling and generally having a good time. They are hugely unproductive and even their own sub-contractors ridicule their work ethic. DK proved that they were unable to deliver on time, or even to deliver a couple of months late. DK rely heavily on sub-contractors (just as well) but demonstrated their inability to effectively manage them. They struggled with budget control, planning, coordinating, invoicing and failed to get materials to site on time. Diggers, dumpers, scaffold towers etc. languished unused on site for months. DK reduced our home and garden very quickly to a mess. Waste materials, packaging, glass, tools, fixings, drink bottles, food wrappers, etc. were dropped when no longer wanted. The wind blew and builders debris flew about the site and when it rained, water repeatedly poured in through the roof of our home, a roof that they knowingly left open to the elements for weeks and weeks in the autumn.

I employed Evans Contracts to build a pair of semi detached 3 bed 2 bath houses. Although a tight build they coped well and produced two very high quality finished houses. Bad weather slowed the project a little. Budget a little over but there was additional work done ie landscaping and tiling that was not in the original price. Alan is a good communicator that knows his trade inside and out. Highly recommended.

Alex and his team have been brilliant so far. They are still working on my cottage renovation and extension. I have been so pleased with the help and advice I have received so far. Alex is an excellent communicator, he takes the time to explain things very clearly . He shares his ideas freely and the quality of the workmanship is first class. We are a building company and in the end had the labour to take out the wall, however we did use oliver to put in the steel work on the job and he did a very thorough job. the site was left tidy and we had no issues. Oliver is a very polite and easy to get on with guy, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or even use him again in the future.

Our overall experience was a positive one. Riccardo & his Brother Sam worked very hard and did 2 great jobs for us. A bathroom refurbishment and a kitchen refurbishment. When we want any more work done on our property, we would have no hesitation in calling them back in again. Their costings were fair and we didn't feel at any time that they over price anything. They did all that we asked of them and more. They are very happy, friendly and obliging lads, as long as they get a couple of rounds of toast, tea & coffee, and ignore the singing lol. Seriously though if you want a great job doing at a reasonable price go to S & R Construction you wont go wrong. We are over the moon with the work we have had done by them Terri & Dave
