How can I check the standards of an electrician’s work?

To check the standards and quality of an electrician's work, you can look for reviews and testimonials, ask for examples of previous work or check if they are registered with a reputable body, like NICEIC. You can also check if they offer a guarantee for their work, read customer reviews, and view photos of past projects on MyBuilder.

What should I expect from an electrician?

An electrician should be **licensed and certified, punctual and provide a clear estimate** before starting the job. They should ensure the work meets safety standards and offer a guarantee on their services.

Are electricians required to have insurance?

Yes, electricians are generally required to have **public liability insurance** to protect against accidents or damage during the job. It's always a good idea to ask to see proof of insurance before hiring.

Do electricians charge a call-out fee?

Many electricians charge a **call-out fee** for visiting your property, especially if the job is small or outside of regular hours. It's advisable to confirm the fee in advance to avoid any surprises.

How long does an electrical job take?

The time required depends on the size and complexity of the work. Here’s a general guide: - **Small tasks** (e.g. replacing sockets or light fittings): usually **under an hour** - **Medium jobs** (e.g. installing new lighting circuits or upgrading a fuse box): around **half a day to a full day** - **Large projects** (e.g. full house rewiring or new installations): can take **several days to a few weeks**, depending on the property

I used David's services on the refurbishment of a three storey Edwardian house in St Leonards On Sea. It was a complete re-wire from sockets to pedant lighting, LED lighting, underfloor heating in two bathrooms as well as the new consumer unit and everything else that goes with the full re-wiring of an entire hose. He was a pleasure to work with, always cheery and polite and his price was competitive and he turned up when he said he would and completed the work on time, on budget. Great guy, great tradesman, will use David again on the next project. 10/10.

I cannot thank Paul and Andrew enough for the hard work, attention to detail, prompt polite service and all this completed at a fantastic price! I will/would definitely book this company for any electrical services required for our home. It is such a shame we are moving, as they would be my go to company without a shadow of a doubt. I needed the job completed at the weekend and I posted the job at the end of that week!!! The lights are now working again and the stair banister was set back into a firm position by Paul, who went above and beyond to ensure the job was completed in good time and we could not be happier. It's absolutely perfect! Far better than it was fitted the first time around! I feel so very fortunate that I followed my instincts and booked this company. Completely trustworthy and had asked them to complete the job before seeing the final estimate for additional works, as their initial quote was very competitive. I expected the cost to be far more than it was and could not have had it done any cheaper, with the care and attention that Paul applied to this job. Thank you both so very much and believe me when I say I am fussy!! I recommend this company whole heartedly and if anyone would like to contact me for reassurance please feel free. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. If I could score them a higher rating I would! Absolutely fantastic!! One very happy customer!
