How can I check the standards of an electrician’s work?

To check the standards and quality of an electrician's work, you can look for reviews and testimonials, ask for examples of previous work or check if they are registered with a reputable body, like NICEIC. You can also check if they offer a guarantee for their work, read customer reviews, and view photos of past projects on MyBuilder.

What should I expect from an electrician?

An electrician should be **licensed and certified, punctual and provide a clear estimate** before starting the job. They should ensure the work meets safety standards and offer a guarantee on their services.

Are electricians required to have insurance?

Yes, electricians are generally required to have **public liability insurance** to protect against accidents or damage during the job. It's always a good idea to ask to see proof of insurance before hiring.

Do electricians charge a call-out fee?

Many electricians charge a **call-out fee** for visiting your property, especially if the job is small or outside of regular hours. It's advisable to confirm the fee in advance to avoid any surprises.

How long does an electrical job take?

The time required depends on the size and complexity of the work. Here’s a general guide: - **Small tasks** (e.g. replacing sockets or light fittings): usually **under an hour** - **Medium jobs** (e.g. installing new lighting circuits or upgrading a fuse box): around **half a day to a full day** - **Large projects** (e.g. full house rewiring or new installations): can take **several days to a few weeks**, depending on the property

I’ve been looking for an electrician to do my garage, there was a few guys who gave me quotes but none of them made step ahead and helped me choose what will be suitable for that installation except Tony, he came to give me quote but he also help me choose lighting and other stuff. An hour later he send me picture of drawings which explained what goes where and what is what and assured me that he will buy all of the required components, no problem with communication at all. Tony always listened all of my questions patiently and he found solutions for my questions easily. He was very punctual and he started his job right after arrival, Very neat job and installation was done within few hours where I was expecting one full day of work. Even after I made some changes during the installation and added additional sockets, he was happy to carry on and he didn’t mind small changes. Anyway, very good and friendly electrician with great working attitude, very clean and professional, very reasonable prices. I’ll definitely need Tony to come back and do some other electrical jobs in my house. I’m happy with his Service and will always recommend Cousins Electrical Services! Thanks!
