How can I check the standards of an electrician’s work?

To check the standards and quality of an electrician's work, you can look for reviews and testimonials, ask for examples of previous work or check if they are registered with a reputable body, like NICEIC. You can also check if they offer a guarantee for their work, read customer reviews, and view photos of past projects on MyBuilder.

What should I expect from an electrician?

An electrician should be **licensed and certified, punctual and provide a clear estimate** before starting the job. They should ensure the work meets safety standards and offer a guarantee on their services.

Are electricians required to have insurance?

Yes, electricians are generally required to have **public liability insurance** to protect against accidents or damage during the job. It's always a good idea to ask to see proof of insurance before hiring.

Do electricians charge a call-out fee?

Many electricians charge a **call-out fee** for visiting your property, especially if the job is small or outside of regular hours. It's advisable to confirm the fee in advance to avoid any surprises.

How long does an electrical job take?

The time required depends on the size and complexity of the work. Here’s a general guide: - **Small tasks** (e.g. replacing sockets or light fittings): usually **under an hour** - **Medium jobs** (e.g. installing new lighting circuits or upgrading a fuse box): around **half a day to a full day** - **Large projects** (e.g. full house rewiring or new installations): can take **several days to a few weeks**, depending on the property

Ray was very efficient in replying to my job request and quickly came to assess the job the following day (over the xmas period) he was very polite, friendly and quickly identified the problem with my cooker and within less than 30 mins he had resolved the problem. I was fearful that I would need to replace the cooker but thankfully that wasn't necessary. Ray also gave some good advice about other electrical jobs that needed doing around the house and offered to research it for me and contact me later with some prices. Very reasonable price for repairing the cooker. Would definitely recommend Ray to my friends. Thankyou!

Declan's contacted me very quickly and offered extremely professional advice and the most competitive quote for the work required. He kept in touch and was very flexible with timescales allowing me to plan his job around other planned work. On the day in question he arrived on time and completed the work quickly, with the minimum of fuss and to an extremely high standard. He left me with instructions not to hesitate to contact him should any issues with the work arise, of which none have. I would rerecomend Declan Kelly, ARC Electrical without hesitation. M Brennan.
