Aaron responded promptly to my job post and arranged to visit. He arrived exactly when he said he would and asked thorough questions about the work, and later emailed an estimate. In conversation, Aaron was clear that, while he was an experienced plasterer, and loved working with lime, he had never actually used the product I was specifying (Adaptavate Breathaplasta). This is a lime-based product using fine particles of bio-aggregate, making the plaster particularly breathable and able to deal with humidity. Aaron calculated that the work would take 6 days. In the event, it turned out he had to deal with a particularly complex aspect in squaring up, damp-proofing and insulating a tricky window wall, along side the actual plastering, and in addition to producing a very accurately-sized aperture for the window reveal, as requested in the brief. This was done with millimetre precision, but meant of course the work took longer (a labour time increase of 50%), but Aaron negotiated this clearly, and his communications were very good throughout. Plastering over different surfaces (hempcrete, cement rendered wall), Aaron produced a superb finish, unifying the appearance of the plastered walls. Overall, an excellent job.

Camiron arrived at exactly the time he said he would. He also covered everything to protect it, as he promised. He worked quietly and quickly. It was a big and tricky job but he fixed the large hole in my bedroom ceiling and plastered it neatly. My bedroom looked like a bombsite but Camiron tidied it all and vacuumed the room and the stairs so there was not one speck of dust left He says he will return after the plaster has dried to paint the ceiling. I would like to recommend Camiron to anyone who needs a plastering job well done.

Ian and Tom have recently finished work on my renovation project. Always pleasant to deal with, and kept me posted on progress and next steps. They plasterboarded every ceiling and skimmed every wall in a 1960s 3-bed semi-detached house over a 13 day period (with a little help from Ian’s Dad in the first week!). I’ve just finished the mist coat and have to say I’m really happy with the quality and finish of the plastering. I’ve come across less than ten, and probably nearer to five, VERY SMALL spots that need a bit of remedial attention eg, a touch of filler or a very light sanding. Other trades have commented on the quality of the work too. Would happily recommend JNS to others.

Large kitchen extension requiring a concrete raft, steel RSJ, underpinning and new pitched roof. John handled all the material ordering, all the excavation, concrete pour and masonry work. He also completed all the timber trusses for the roof as well as the roof itself. The only building work outsourced by John was the electrical, plumbing and plastering. He was reliable on timekeeping. All aspects of his work was methodical and well planned. His knowledge on building matters was evident by the final product reaching satisfactory completion and was passed by the building inspector. I have used John on several other smaller jobs and will be using him again on future projects. I have no hesitation in recommending him as a reliable builder.
