Initially we were so delighted to have Darren Jones to take on our urgent work - he seemed so positive and knowledgeable. However, so many things had to be constantly over-seen to make sure that the work was completed satisfactorily. Removal of severely rotten wood (dry rot) from window frame had to be asked for, inserting a concrete lintel (wooden one affected by dry rot was hidden behind plaster board and I had to ask to see if the concrete lintel had been used - it hadn't). Rebuilding of window frame had to be monitored step by step to ensure a Victorian effect was achieved without using any UPVC, and then the doorway was built too small for the existing door even having asked to make sure it would be built to fit the door. A job which should only have taken 8 working days ended up taking 6 weeks. There were many delays, and in the end we had to arrange for all rubbish to be removed ourselves and to arrange for various little jobs to be done by other people as the tenants were ready to move in - Darren knew about the deadline right from the beginning of the work. In the end we have a reasonable job but the stress in keeping the job up to an acceptable level of workmanship without living there was quite considerable. Darren's son Derron and friend Dave worked very hard to try and rectify many things for us doing a good job in the end for which we were very grateful.

Christo was so quick and responsive in sending across a quote and getting a date in the diary for the renovation. When it came to the actual work, he was great in explaining where he was at and letting us know if there was anything unexpected that came up, which when it did, he was so helpful and quick in sorting. The quality of work is fantastic and we were so impressed with the tidiness and efficiency of the team. Sam did a great job, dealt with our disagreements with what we wanted, and got on and delivered the solution that looks good and works well. We wanted the bathroom done quite quickly and Sam got the majority of the job done in 3 days, with a few extra thing that took a couple of further days to resolve. Would use again.

Antica tiles came to knock down a stud wall and replace it with an arch. They were always professional and courteous. They completed the work on time and to budget and ensure that the finish was to a high standard. They also ensure that they cleaned up behind them. I would use Anitca Tiles again.

The garage conversion went well and to time. I was very pleased. The job required a building Certificate but MLP did not provide this although they assured me that they would 'drop it to the house'! I the asked them to fit my new kitchen. I was assured that MLP directly employed everyone with the necessary skills. I had to go away so left them a key to fit the kitchen while I was away. On my return four months later absolutely nothing had been done. It took nearly a year to get anywhere near completion and then some of the fittings were of a poor standard - doors didn't align, fridge fell out on me, laminated floor edgings not glued in,siliconing between work surface and spalsh back came apart etc. etc. Most importantly the electrical certificate was not provided - which MLP again assured me they had. I went through the Guild of Master Builders Conciliation process to get the two required certificates. This took over a year and, in the end, the Guild recinded MLP's membership. I then had to pay an electrician to get an electrical certificate for the kitchen and I had to pay the local authority to get a retrospective building cerfificate. I then had to take MLP to the small claims court to recover the costs of the certificates. the court found in my favour abd MLP had to pay me the additional costs I had incurred and the court fees. MLP has now paid these. I have had such a stressful experience with MLP that I wanted to warn others by giving this factual feedback.
