I have been a carpenter since leaving school in 1990. I completed my apprenticeship at Reading College (TVU). I have a good knowledge of many aspects of carpentry from 1st & 2nd fix , new build works , domestic alterations and refurbishment. Bespoke carpentry requirements , kitchens , floors . Fully fitted fire doors and acoustic doors fitted to conform with regulations . I do have other building skills mainly for remedial works . I am a carpenter by trade .

Seemed a nice chap to begin with, but as soon as you have any issues, that changes. When Martin finished, he says I was on a call so couldn't say bye (fair enough) but could have left a note or sent a message, because when I discovered he had left and I looked at the work, I genuinely thought he had gone to the shops or something as it clearly wasn't finished. We had a door from the garage into the house put in with a step, which was left loose. When I questioned this he said that it was an option and he thought it was a nice idea. This doesn't make sense as this was part of the job I asked to be done, which he charged for and included on his invoice. There were other issues which made it look like a rushed job. He fitted the wrong lock, blamed the retailer but must have noticed and tried to get away with it as it clearly said "3 lever" on it when he quoted for 5 lever. There was something else I wanted doing which he basically said "not my job" so I agreed to pay extra for. He never came back to me with dates on when he could do it and ignored my texts when I chased. When he finally agreed to come and do it after I called, he texts at 9.10 when he said he'd come at 9 saying "running late" (yes I can see that) can I come at 10 or on Monday, so I said yes 10 is fine, then he says sorry Monday is better for me, I have jobs to do around the house! I questioned why I he said he would come then and he blamed a flat tyre. Unfortunately there is a word count so can't cover it all!

Sorry this is long: our experience differs to most on here. We chose Better Living to do our side and rear extensions from start to finish. All was good until the subcontractors finished the main structures, then it all went downhill. Ben rarely answered his phone, texts, emails etc., and because they had started a bigger project elsewhere they repeatedly abandoned ours, often for weeks at a time. Even when we went on holiday, they had the complete run of the house for two weeks but did very little. Ben deliberately held up work for two weeks after receiving a stage payment a day late, having given us one day to pay after emailing an invoice. Beyond the main structural jobs their work was often sub-standard and our instructions were not followed due to poor communication between the team. Out of frustration we eventually took a lot of work off them and drafted in other tradesmen to complete the project, also doing some of the work ourselves. We have since had to have some of their heating work rectified by engineers. Not saying everything was bad, but fact is the list of problems and poorly completed jobs is too long to list here. They finished at our property over three months ago and have still not sent us the completion documents. As usual, Ben is not responding to our attempts to contact him. Despite being hospitable to their team, we feel we were treated shabbily by BL and sadly would not recommend them.

My Carpenter provided professional services in all aspects during the whole project life cycle, including quoting, planning, construction, on-site variation control, commissioning and handover. It was a fantastic experience working with the on-site project manager, Mitchell Bligh, who provided site management, advices and reported daily the project progress to me. Good communication and take care of client's concerns are the keys of success. The project completed in accordance with the agreed time plan, cost and with great quality. Steve did a great job converting a bedroom into a kitchen, including all plumbing, electrical works, ceiling & floor insulation, underfloor heating... Steve brought in other tradesmen for more specialist jobs, who did a good job too. Steve was dedicated to the project and even turned up on weekends to make progress with the conversion. The place was always left clean and tidy at the end of the day. Not knowing much about building works, I felt totally comfortable with the job being in Steve's hands, and I already talked to Steve about another job I'd like to have done soon!

We are very very happy with the job that Stuart and his team did. The job was completed on schedule and this was including a few extras I had asked for at the very last minute. The work has been done to a very high standard throughout- we have been so impressed with the quality of finish and attention to details. Stuart was also very communicative throughout - checking details with me on how I wanted things- things I wouldn't have thought to ask about. They were also respectful and careful with our belongings- covering things up where they could and deftly working around things that couldn't be moved. I would have no hesitation in recommending Pierce Construction to anyone looking to get building works done and they would be my first choice for any future building needs I might have.

JPD were exactly the partner we were looking for for our project. As we are doing a mainly DYI focus renovation on our house we needed a partner that we can trust with many connection to a number or building trades.
