Question 1

Do cleaners offer eco-friendly or non-toxic cleaning options?

Accepted Answer

Many households prefer environmentally friendly products, especially if there are children, pets, or allergies in the home. Ask if the cleaner can use eco-conscious or fragrance-free products - or if you're expected to provide them.

Question 2

Can cleaners tackle pet hair and odours?

Accepted Answer

If you have pets, it’s worth confirming that the cleaner is comfortable working in pet-friendly homes and is experienced with removing fur and dander. You can also ask if they use HEPA filter vacuums or enzyme-based products that help neutralise odours.

Question 3

How long will the cleaning take?

Accepted Answer

It’s helpful to get a realistic estimate of how long your job will take - especially if you're paying hourly. Timings can vary based on the size of your property and the depth of the clean. For example, **a one-bedroom flat (regular clean) could take 2–3 hours**, while a **deep clean of a two-bedroom home could take 5–8 hours**.

Question 4

Can I book a trial clean before committing regularly?

Accepted Answer

Yes - many homeowners like to book a one-time or trial clean to see how well a cleaner suits their needs. This can help you gauge their attention to detail, punctuality and compatibility with your home. It’s worth checking in advance if the cleaner offers trial cleans and whether their pricing differs from regular bookings.

Question 5

Do cleaners have a checklist or cleaning plan?

Accepted Answer

Most professional cleaners follow a structured checklist to ensure consistency and that no areas are missed - especially during deep cleans or first-time visits. Ask whether they use one, and if they’re open to adjusting it for your priorities, such as focusing more on bathrooms or skipping certain rooms.

Question 6

What happens if something gets damaged during a professional clean?

Accepted Answer

Although rare, accidents can happen. It’s important to ask what their process is if an item is broken or damaged. Do they notify you immediately? Are they covered by insurance to compensate for accidental damage? Clear expectations up front can help avoid any confusion later on.

Question 7

Can cleaners work while I’m working from home?

Accepted Answer

Many local cleaners are comfortable working while you're home, especially with more people working remotely. Still, it’s polite to check. Some may prefer to work in an empty house to move more freely, while others are happy to clean quietly around your schedule or work in specific rooms while you take calls or meetings.
