How can I check the quality of a flooring fitter’s work?

Request a portfolio or gallery of completed flooring installation projects similar to yours, or view photos of past projects on MyBuilder. Checking for local reviews and client feedback online also offers insight into their professionalism.

Are flooring companies near me required to have insurance?

Most professional flooring fitters carry public liability insurance to protect against property damage or accidents during installation. Some also hold professional indemnity insurance covering design or specification errors. Always ask for proof of insurance before hiring a flooring contractor to safeguard your interests during the project.

Do flooring fitters near me charge consultation fees?

While many flooring installation professionals offer free initial consultations or quotes, some may charge for detailed site surveys or design advice, especially for complex or bespoke flooring projects. Confirm in advance whether there will be any fees for onsite visits or project planning to avoid surprises.

What types of flooring do fitters recommend for different rooms?

Flooring fitters consider traffic levels, moisture exposure, and design preferences when recommending materials. High-traffic areas like hallways may benefit from durable laminate or vinyl, while living rooms often suit hardwood or engineered wood floors.

Carpentry- 5 Jan 2025
Aaron initially impressed me with his commitment and fair pricing, delivering and installing staircases well. However, when he offered to tile a bathroom, things went downhill. Instead of handling it himself or assigning someone he trusted, he brought in a tiler he’d never worked with before. The results were disastrous—uneven tiles, poor grout work, and an overall lack of quality. Aaron offered to fix some issues but didn’t supervise the work, leaving it to me. His repairs only made things worse. After the job was finished, he ignored my detailed list of tiling mistakes and stopped responding altogether. I had to hire another tiler to fix some issues, but many problems remain because further repairs were too costly. While Aaron is an eloquent speaker and seemed committed initially, his actions didn’t match his words. I cannot recommend him and caution others not to be swayed by small talk or promises without clear oversight and proven reliability.

I've absolutely no hesitation in recommending Darek. From the start Darek was professional, trustworthy, polite, punctual and highly skilled. His level of detail really passed my expectations as I've used builders before and although their work was good, Darek thinks like a customer and uses his knowledge, experience and skills to deliver a high quality end result. He came round and took measurements and quoted me for the job and didn't even charge me more for a few last minute changes I needed to make to the job. Thank you for an outstanding job on my floors, you've moved to the top of my list for any work I need to be done.
