As you see i asked for paint walls, ceiling and all skirting boards well thats not the case but they did a very good job besides not skirting boards. His father work was excellent and the site was good but some so called people on this site dont know what they are doing so watch who you pick on this site and also make sure that all work is put down on paper and the price is agreed by both of us so that the price is not changed later in the work.As OAPs dont get taken for a ride.

Didn’t do a very good job. - He didn’t leave proper expansion gap. The timber boards either firmly touch the perimeter wall, or leave a massive gap that even the skirting boards cannot cover. I even provided my own mitre saw but he didn’t use it. - Timber boards are cut too short in the living room and when the skirting board is put back, there is still a 10 mm gap left, which looks awful. - The amount of wastage and off cuts was unreal. I ordered 30% extra and all was used/wasted. I have been left with lots of nearly full boards with only a small corner of each board being used, despite having lots of off cuts which could have been used instead of full boards. -He has damaged nearly all my skirting boards. I hired a painter and he was shocked how damaged the skirting boards were and how poorly they were put back! -He doesn’t vacuum the floor before laying the underlay. I provided a vacuum cleaner and he refused to use it.

I first contacted a few other handymen for this job. One didn't show up at the first appointment. Another didn't show up on the day we agreed to do the work. Both of them never called or texted me to let me know that they were not coming. We wasted all morning waiting, very frustrating! I then contacted Rafal. Rafal came quick, arrived on time, did an excellent work as I asked for. He is a very hard working man. We're very happy with his service, would highly recommend him to anyone who requires handyman work!

What practical training or hands-on experience do you have in floor fitting?

Many Kirkliston floor fitters complete apprenticeships or training courses such as NVQ Level 2 in Floorcovering Occupations. This involves on-site assessment and practical work covering carpet, vinyl, wood, or laminate flooring installations.

How do you prepare the floor surface before fitting?

A local Kirkliston floor fitter should explain how they assess and prepare the subfloor, removing old coverings, cleaning and levelling the surface, and addressing any issues to ensure a smooth, long-lasting flooring installation in your Kirkliston property.

Can you share examples of previous floor fitting jobs you’ve done in Kirkliston?

Hearing about local work helps you understand a prospective Kirkliston floor fitter’s familiarity with different floor types and challenges common in the area, such as moisture control or uneven flooring. Take a look at their MyBuilder profile, as they may have images of their previous works on there.

Will you provide a clear, detailed quote for materials, labour, and any additional costs?

A transparent quote allows you to know exactly what you’re paying for. It’s also useful to ask how a floor fitter in Kirkliston will account for any unexpected costs if any issues arise once the work is underway.
