I was part of a self build group in Bevendean, Brighton. We built 10 eco friendly properties, for families in need of housing. We were one of the first Grand Design shows. I went on to City college Brighton where I studied level 2 site carpentry and joinery, together with an Environmental Conservation Diploma and then went on to do my level 3 carpentry. I'm a self employed cabinet maker/joiner and site carpenter. I started at 17 in a workshop in Essex then moved to London in 1986 and worked for Jo Dixon joinery. In that era I worked on several architectural jobs with Kevin McCloud, made a pair of colonial chairs for Jeffrey Archer, a kitchen for Timothy Dalton, and an 11 meter veneered dining table for Mme Schulmberger in Paris, Part of a major £3m refurbishment to her apartment.
