  • I trained as a furniture maker but have done almost every job with wood. From Oak staircases, building houses, designed kitchens and shop fittings, hanging doors and fitted skirting, I've even built boats. If you have a job involving wood let me know. Small jobs are just as important and big projects and attention to detail is key to them all I keep my waiting list intentionally very small so I can respond quickly to new requests.

  • I have been working as a carpenter and joiner for the past 15 years. I have a passion for woodworking and take a lot of pride in doing a great job. I like to start a project with a series of conversations with the customer to fully understand what they are looking to achieve and figure out the best way to proceed. I survey the space and produce 3D drawings to establish a design. This helps both the customer and I to accurately visualise the project and make any tweaks before work commences.

  • Great question, consumers are inundated with emails and offers whether they are about cost savings measures or sales, etc. It all becomes a blur and more challenging. If you’re introducing yourself to a potential client in person, do a little research on who they are and what they do. When you introduce yourself tell them how you were intrigued or interested in how they executed XYZ. When they finish telling you about the process , then advise what you do and how it is related and how you can help. Make the connection and show how what you know and can offer will in fact benefit them. Try not to make it like a sales pitch. Be casual about it

  • At Bear Construction, we pride ourselves on our commitment to quality, integrity, and excellence in all areas of construction; Founded by Ashley Fellows, a Quantity Surveyor by trade. Ash decided against attending university as the obvious route to qualification and rather completed an apprenticeship after completing his A Levels. By going down this route, this provided Ash with not only the knowledge of how to carry out the role, but also the valuable opportunity to work on site when possible to grow as a QS and understand the construction element, rather than just from an office perspective! So, Why call it BEAR? This was a family nickname given to Ash from a young age and has symbolic meaning reflected in the company's core values. It also stands for what we do: Building, Extensions And Refurbs! Bear Construction offers a comprehensive range of construction services, catering to diverse needs across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. Whether it's extensions, renovations, or maintenance projects, our team of skilled professionals is equipped to handle every aspect with precision and efficiency. Should you wish to consider us for your upcoming project, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

I find joy in experimenting with different techniques and styles, especially when it comes to building wood-fired ovens indoors without electricity. It's fulfilling to contribute to projects that benefit others while learning and mastering the art of bricklaying and stone masonry along the way.
