My house, which I purchased new six years ago was lacking in wardrobe/storage space on the top floor. I had a couple of quotes from well-known specialist companies, but no one was able to offer doors to match the house. Then I found Joe from Seagull Carpentry through a local advertisement. Not only was he able to offer what I wanted as a fair price, but his standards of work and his attention to detail was better than I could ever have hoped for. I would like to bring to your attention the unfortunate situation I have had to face with the carpenter. After inspecting the job on-site, we agreed on a price of £1500 to complete four pocket doors with door furniture, install a timber box lined with insulation around the bioethanol fireplace/TV doors, create small cupboards to box on the manifold and the electric meter, and one large cupboard under the stairs. However, the carpenter failed to deliver on his promises and demanded the full amount, changing the quote from a project quote to a per day quote (mind you, he and another guy worked for 2 days). Despite my trust in his abilities, he only completed three pocket doors without any door furniture and installed the timber around the bioethanol fireplace/TV doors. The cupboards created to box on the manifold is too closed in, making it impossible to service the manifold. The carpenter also failed to deliver the large cupboard under the stairs, citing a lack of time, which he “leveraged” to help his colleague install the remaining pocket doors, which never happened. As a result, I had to pay extra to install the other pocket doors (which was done in 20mins by another carpenter), door furnitures, and now, redo the manifold box. I am extremely disappointed with the quality of work and the lack of professionalism displayed by the carpenter. I hate writing negative reviews for small businesses but I hope this serves as a cautionary tale for anyone considering hiring him.Latest review:Joinery & Cabinet Making-
