I'm Tom, the person behind Furze & Fix — a local handyman service based in Furzedown, South London. I've been hands-on with DIY and home improvement projects since studying Design & Technology at school, and over the years that's grown into a genuine passion for building and fixing things properly. I've increasingly been taking on professional work and am now looking to offer my services more widely. I offer a range of general handyman services but my particular strength is joinery — things like decking, shelving, and general woodwork, where I take pride in getting the details right. I'm also happy to help with furniture assembly and general home fixes. By trade I'm a chartered engineer with a mechanical engineering degree, so accuracy, proper planning, and doing a job to a high standard aren't optional extras for me — they're second nature. I don't currently take on electrical or plumbing work, but for anything in the carpentry, assembly, or general handyman space, I'd love to help. I'm continuing to build a reputation job by job, so you can expect care, reliability, and a tidy finish every time. I am currently a sub contractor to fire protection companies specialising in fire door installation and remedial/upgrade works. Over the last 7 years I have obtained a vast amount of experience within the fire door industry and a wealth of knowledge working for some prestigious and large fire protection companies. Most people don’t realise that the fire door they’ve had installed has been voided by the carpenter due to a lack of knowledge regarding the spec and tolerance of different door manufacturer's. Originally I started out as a carpenter working on domestic building sites and put my hand to tiling, painting and decorating and helping out with all trades.
